What is your title at HHM? Areas of concentration? Tax Manager; Estate, gifts, trusts, and large multi-states

What do you wish you had known during your first week/month working at HHM/FDA? It is better to ask questions up front then get review notes on them later. The more questions you ask at the beginning the less you will end up asking down the road.

What keeps you working at HHM/FDA? The family of course, HHM has become my home away from home and I am so truly blessed to be a part of the company.

What is your favorite HHM/FDA memory? The Christmas party in 2014!

What is your favorite community project you’ve ever participated in? JA in a day, loved being able to be a teacher for a day and watch those little minds working.

Do you have any children or pets? One son (Noah James, 1 yr old); two dogs (Ghost, a 5 yr old Dogo, Argentino and Chloe, an 11 yr old Yorkshire Terrier); one cat (Tinkerbell, a 3 yr old barncat we took with us from Murfreesboro); and five chickens (Theo, Willie, Barb, Charli, and Henny- 4 yrs old)

Phone call or text? Phone call, I’m a little old fashion.

What is your favorite restaurant in Chattanooga? Provino’s

What is an app you couldn’t live without? Google Maps

What is your favorite vacation destination? Any beach, anywhere!

What is one thing on your bucket list? To visit Ireland.

What is something you’ve been doing to manage stress? Cooking, I love to try new things in the kitchen.

What University do you attend? Lee University

What was your first impression of HHM? I felt a very familiar sense of community and a growth focused culture that I admire.

What skills do you hope to develop in your role? I would love to grow in my soft skills and reinforce my work ethic.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Definitely would be bacon, eggs, and toast, this has always been a favorite.

What are you currently streaming on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon? I like to watch the new Magnum P.I. show with my parents on Prime, it's not that great... but my parents love it!

What might someone be surprised to know about you? I read 40 books from May through December in 2023.

What is one thing on your bucket list? Run a half-marathon.

What University do you attend? I attend Covenant College

What was your first impression of HHM? Everyone at HHM was very friendly.

What skills do you hope to develop in your role? I hope to further my abilities as an accountant and enable HHM to add value to the clients that we serve.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? My mom’s macaroni and cheese.

What are you currently streaming on Netflix/hulu/amazon? Reacher on Amazon prime.

What might someone be surprised to know about you? I have 7 siblings.

What is one thing on your bucket list? I want to restore a C3 corvette before I die.

Welcome Our January Interns -MEM

The Memphis office welcomed their interns for the spring semester this week. If you haven't already, please be sure to make them feel welcome and help prepare them for the upcoming tax season. We are so excited to be a part of their career path a

Our Memphis interns finished their first week of onboarding and training and we are excited to get to finally see them in action. Thank you to Kyle Briner for traveling out to Memphis to share his knowledge and to everyone who helped lead the training program. Please be sure to lend a helping hand to our new staff as they weather the tax storm alongside us this season.

Pick Your Path

As we welcome our January interns, we want to include a throwback to when four former interns and staff made partner 10 years after starting their careers with HHM. Now, one of them is the managing partner of the Cleveland office, one is the managing partner of the Memphis office, one is head of campus recruiting and community involvement, and one has created his own niche in serving independent auto dealers. This goes to show just how much opportunity there is here at HHM!

New CPA

Join us in formally congratulating Caroline Daniel on passing all four parts of the CPA exam! We are so proud of her hard work and perseverance to accomplish this career acheivement.

Big Win

We are excited to announce that HHM has landed Godspeed Motors out of Charlotte from CIADA this week! Godspeed Motors is an amazing company that deals with high-end vehicles and adds to a long list of clients our dealership group is proud to serve. A big congratulations to Jacob Pardue, Branden Wilson, and Shanda Taylor for landing the client, this relationship started at an independent automobile dealer conference!

Daniel Sheets won a bid for a proposal on North Georgia E.M.C., a utility service company that provide power to counties in the North Georgia Region. Congratulations Daniel well earned!

The second floor threw Becca Denison a good luck party before she travels to Miami to compete in the CrossFit Wodapalooza contest this weekend! We wish her luck and know she'll do amazing!

Pink! Picture Day

Thank you to everyone who showed up for Pink Day to support CHI Memorial's Pink! Gala and raise awareness for breast cancer. Your support means the world to those who are fighting this disease or have fought this disease. It helps to spread the important message of early detection and will help Pink! it is shirt sales (fundraising).

Cleveland One Year Anniversary

Congratulations to the Cleveland team for celebrating their first year in their new office on Inman Street! On this day last year, the Cleveland office officially moved in to the newly-built 7,000-square-foot office building. It's amazing to see how much the team has grown since then - from just 13 members to now having 25. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in making this expansion a success.

As the team continues to grow and thrive, there's no doubt that Cleveland will be a key player in the success of our firm as a whole. Here's to the Cleveland team and all they have achieved in the past year - may the next one be even better!

Our Pink! Stories

As part of our continued efforts to promote awareness to breast cancer in partnership with CHI Memorial Foundation's Pink! Gala, we will spend the month leading up to the event sharing stories from HHM employees who have personally battled the disease. This week Felicia Lasater courageously opened up about her personal battle, triumphs, and support she received. If you are interested in hearing her story as well as keeping up to date with the rest of the Pink! Stories coming out this month, click the link below.

Mobile Mammogram Coach

As part of our Pink! 2024 sponsorship, we will be hosting the CHI Memorial Pink Mobile Mammogram Coach (Bus) on January 19th from 10am - 3pm.

Employees and spouses are welcome to sign up to visit the coach (bus) to receive mammography services. Insurance is accepted, but not required. If patients are uninsured, CHI is able to file with a TN Health & Human Services grant to keep it free for everyone. If your insurance covers a preventative screening, they will take care of filing it and you'd pay a co-pay just like in the office.

The coach (bus) features two dressing rooms, a waiting area, and a mammography room with advanced digital equipment. It's the same technology you'll find at our other MaryEllen Locher Breast Center locations.

Year-End Tax Planning Series

As the year comes to an end, many of our staff are hard at work providing clients and staff with the recent updates and knowledge of how to prepare for the 2023 tax period. Matthew Thurman hosts the Year-End Tax Planning Series as he speaks with some of our experienced team members on their expertise in the field.
