The LAUSD Strike is scheduled to begin this Monday January 14, 2019. Here is information about the strike and about resources that you can use. For parents who choose to stay home with their children, information is included about how you can access free Library Services and resources directly from your home with your library card and smartphone. 

La huelga de LAUSD esta planeada para empezar este Lunes 14 de Enero, 2019. Aqui se encuentra informacion sobre la huelga, e recursos que usted puede utilizar. Para padres que se deciden quedar en casa con sus hijos, hemos incluyido informacion sobre como usted puede acesar servicios y recursos gratuitas de la biblioteca directamente de su casa con su tarjeta bibliotecaria y su celular.

LA Recreation Centers will be open to kids:

  • Highland Park Recreation Center was designated as one of 27 recreation centers in the city that will be providing free camp with organized, safe activities for all kids during strike days. In NELA, Lincoln Heights Recreation Center is also designated. Kids from K-12 are welcome.
  • Activities will run from 8 am to 4 pm each day of the strike. Lunch and snacks are provided FREE
  • You can fill out the registration form below in advance, or when your drop off your child. They are not allowed to turn away any kids, so you can register same day.
  • Camp will be offered for the duration of the strike.
  • For parents who need childcare after 4 pm, there is an after care option at a weekly rate of $35 from 4-6 pm. One-time registration fee of $50.

Parents: what will you do for your student receiving special education services if LAUSD strikes on Monday?
REZ Law Group is partnering with Northeast Autism Parents Group and other organizations to host an informational meeting for parents of students with IEPs THIS Sunday! Come for a know-your-rights session, learn about available resources, and strategize with other parents and professionals about how to support your child--while also supporting the LAUSD strike.

LA Metro and Museums offer Free Entry to Students
With the first L.A. teachers’ strike in 30 years possibly starting Thursday, L.A. Metro is proposing to offer free rides to students of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Free resources from our local LAPL that you and your kids can take advantage of right from your phone, all you need is a free library card
