Holy Week Reflection

What a Holy Week it was! Thanks be to God for the power of the Holy Spirit working through so many who made our worship possible, celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, alleluia! We are grateful for egg casseroles, good weather, silver polish, palm branches, abundant blossoms, angelic voices, trumpets & pipes, the waters of baptism, chocolate covered strawberries, white patent leather shoes, seersucker suits, Easter Bunnies, acolytes, bells, smiling babies and abundant alleluias! You can find some of the photos of our powerful week together on our Facebook page and watch worship there or on YouTube. We’re also grateful for a generous collection for our Outreach Ministries.

We also send our congratulations to our bishop, The Right Reverend Robert Wright. Yesterday he was name as one of the candidates to become the next Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. In his monthly Zoom call with us this morning, he reiterated that this is a testament to the vibrancy and community of our diocese. (Indeed, they also shared details that our diocesan confirmations and average Sunday attendance have increased at an impressive rate!) We are indeed proud of Bishop Wright and the work we continue to do in the great Diocese of Atlanta. Read more about the election process here.

In the next few months, the House of Bishops will continue to discern among themselves who they will elect at the General Convention in Louisville, KY on June 26. In the meantime, we keep Bishop Rob and Beth-Sarah in our prayers. The bishop still plans to be with us to confirm and receive new members at Holy Innocents on May 5. It’s another good reason to throw a party.

Well, we’ll do it again this Sunday actually. Stewart preaches on the story of Jesus appearing to the disciples and Thomas. We’ll also baptize Rusty and Jan Paul’s grandson at the 10:15 am service. The choir sings, and we’ll continue our Easter Alleluias. Dave Stockert will lead our Adult Forum at 9:00 AM on “Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?”

With grateful hearts,

Bill, Stewart, & Ruth

Pastoral Note

Fran Morrow, a former member of the Church of the Atonement and regular worshiper at our Wednesday Mount Vernon Towers service, died on Palm Sunday. We will remember her life at a service at Mount Vernon Towers on Monday, April 8, at 11:00 AM. Rest eternal, grant to her O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
