HI-Lights

Scenes from Last Sunday

Thank you to the volunteers who came together to make sandwiches for the Church of the Common Ground. It's always a meaningful effort, providing lunch to 120+ unhoused people. Thanks to Robin Hickey for organizing each month.

We are grateful to our 8 AM service folks who brought breakfast for everyone to enjoy. It was a morning of good food, good company, and community in action. Rick Otness is their fearless head usher and breakfast coordinator!

Partnering for a Safer Community

We were grateful to welcome the Sandy Springs Police Department to campus this week for a walkthrough alongside the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School security team. These familiarization tours are part of our ongoing commitment to campus safety, preparedness, and strong community partnerships.

Yesterday, our church staff hosted a thank-you lunch for the school’s security and facilities management teams. It was a small gesture of appreciation for the folks who quietly and consistently keep our campus running smoothly and safely.

We’re thankful for the SSPD, HIES security, and facilities teams—and their dedication to creating a secure, supportive environment for all who call Holy Innocents’ home.

Young Adults Event

The Young Adults gathered on Sunday evening for Garden & Glow, where they built terrariums, shared snacks, and bonded over great conversation. The event offered a relaxed and meaningful opportunity to spend time together and deepen their sense of community.

Show Up for Each Other A note from the Vicar...

Show Up Without Being Asked

When someone’s hurting—sick, grieving, overwhelmed—we often say:

“If there’s anything I can do, let me know.”

It’s kind. We mean it.

But let’s be honest: we don’t always know what to say or how to help.

Here’s a better way:

Just do something. Bring a casserole. Send a “thinking of you” text. Ask, “I’m heading to the store—need anything?”

• And if you’re in need? Be honest. Say, “Yes, I could use this.”

We’re not meant to go it alone.

“So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.” – Romans 12:5

So I’m Asking for Help

Holy Innocents is thriving, but we need you. Jump in where you can; we promise it’ll be fun.

EfM

There’s a Lot New for You in EfM (Education for Ministry)!

EfM has a new course of study and new materials, but the same vibrant community and spirit of inquiry! Through it you can:

●      Deepen your Christian faith.

●      Learn how to articulate that faith.

●      Let that faith inspire you into action!

More than Bible study – through exploration, prayer and reflection, trained mentors facilitate stimulating discussions and guide participants to examine life through an increasingly informed and inspired theological lens.

New this year is EfM: Wide-Angle, a one-year overview of the spiritual journey that explores the Old Testament, the New Testament, and Christian history, spirituality and ethics. It can be a great introduction to EfM or a refresher for those who have already participated in EfM.

Of course, the acclaimed four-year course of study (EfM Classic) continues and has been enhanced with new books and study materials for the Old Testament, the New Testament, and Christian history, ethics and spirituality.

The EfM group at Holy innocents’ is a caring community which meets every Tuesday evening at HI from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., September through May, and meetings may also be joined via Zoom. Lin Stradley and Nicole Yarsawich are the seminar leaders. There is a tuition; scholarships are available. Registration ends July 31.

If you would like more information, please contact Lin Stradley, (404) 233-3133 (lstradley@gmail.com) or Nicole Yarsawich (Cole.yarsawich@gmail.com).

Warning about email scammers

When you receive an email from a Holy Innocents staff member, please check if the sender's email address ends with 'holyinnocents.org'. If it does not, it is likely not from us. Unfortunately, some individuals are attempting to scam various church members, posing as clergy and requesting gift cards. We never ask for money in this way. If someone claiming to be Bill, Stewart, Ruth, or another staff member contacts you, please let us know immediately. Report the email, block the sender, and delete the message. If you have any doubts, please give us a call.
