The Vicar's View
ï»ż
Dear Friends,
Fall or Spring? Which is your favorite? Itâs a close call for me, but Iâd choose Fall - the cooler air, the comfort of blankets and warm food, and the beauty of leaves turning and falling. Thereâs something holy in this season of change. As the natural world begins to rest, I find myself remembering loved ones who have gone before usâespecially as we approach All Saintsâ Day on November 1. This time of year feels like one of those thin places, when heaven and earth draw near and we sense the communion of saints surrounding us.
The church, too, moves through seasons. We are growing here at Holy Innocentsânot just in numbers, but in spirit. This is a time for listening: to one another, and to the movement of the Holy Spirit among us. I see that Spirit alive in our children and youth, in our shared worship, and in the ways you give of your time, talents, and treasure.
On Sunday, October 26, weâll gather for our Fall Festival and Ministry Fair with chili, hot dogs, and Trunk or Treat fun. (If youâd like to host a trunk, please email Renee Stephens below!) The treats will lead you through the fair, where you can discover new ways to grow in faith through service, fellowship, and learning.
This week is also our Stewardship Ingathering Sundayâa moment to celebrate how we are Together. For Good. Just as the seasons remind us of Godâs faithfulness, your generosity sustains the life we share in Christ. Please take a moment to learn more or make your pledge here.
Iâm grateful for this good season and the grace that binds us together.

Changes and Chances
A Grief Workshop
A workshop for all kinds of grief.
We are Practicing the Pastoral Arts. We are not about becoming artists, or even creating a âwork of artâ. Instead, we are being brave enough to let the art do its work with us. Join us on Wednesdays, November 12 & 19, at 10:30-12:00 PM or Thursdays, November 13 & 20, at 6:00-7:30 PM.
Art is powerful, freeing, and healing. It is evocative. Pastoral Art is a mindful mixed media approach to making something with our spiritual lives. We experiment with art supplies because it gives us access to the uncharted, untapped riches of the soul and the possibility for deep healing. We donât have to be âcreativeâ or âartisticâ to engage in Pastoral Arts. We simply look, and listen, and oftentimes we wait; and I dare say, we play.
With this grief workshop, showing up is the hard part, but it is enough.
