PLANS ARE IN PLACE TO BEGIN INSTALLING
HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE
TO EVERY PROPERTY IN ST. GERMAIN

The St. Germain Town Board has contracted with ChoiceTEL of Eagle River to install fiber optic cable to every property within the Town beginning this spring.

Completion of the project, including connecting homes and businesses whose owners wish to subscribe with ChoiceTEL for one of several high speed connection options, is expected to be completed within two to three years with service commencing to some homes and businesses this summer.

More details about this development, including anticipated questions and answers about the project and how it will be paid for, are available on the Fiber Optic Project page of the Town website.
UPDATED TOWN COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
READY FOR PUBLIC REAVIEW

Wisconsin towns are required by State statue 66.1001 to adopt and maintain a comprehensive plan addressing nine specific topics. The plan must be updated no less than every 10 years, always looking 20 years into the future. St. Germain adopted its first plan in 1999 in response to the new statutory requirement. However, that now 21 year old plan has never been updated.

The Town Board instructed the Zoning Committee in early 2020 to work with Northcentral Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission to update the 1999 plan to achieve compliance with the statute. The draft update was presented by the Zoning Committee to the Town Board this past summer for review, refinement and eventual adoption. One of the steps prior to adoption is public review of the updated plan and an opportunity for public comment.

A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 6:00pm in the Community Center. The plan is accessible on the Town website home page under the title DRAFT TOWN COMPREHENSIVE PLAN - PUBLIC REVIEW, or a printed copy may be reviewed, by appointment, in the Office of the Town Clerk in the Community Center.

Written comments may be submitted to the Clerk in lieu of attending the public hearing. They must be received by the Clerk no later than March 24 and may be submitted either by email or mailed to P. O. Box 7, St. Germain WI 54558.
