Annual Spring Dance Celebrates Vincent Van Gogh

IGHL held its 2015 Annual Spring Dance at Villa Lombardi on Wednesday, May 6th, 2015. The theme for the night was Vincent Van Gogh's Starry, Starry, Night.

The rooms were decorated with moons and stars and the colors were hues of blue and gold.

Three of the artist's famous "Starry Night" prints were placed on easels around the rooms and the tables were candle lit with blue bottles adorned with the artist's renditions and sparkles. Jamie, one of the many talented individuals in attendance, sang a solo and everyone danced the night away to the tunes of DJ, John Sanders.

According to Recreation Coordinator Therese Martin, "The weather was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a better 'Starry Night!'."

 Employee of the Month
Jennifer Hart Named June IGHL Employee of the Month

On average, the IGHL website, www. ighl.org , receives 160,000 visitors a year with almost 40,000 clicking on the links to Human Resources' Job Openings.

A number of these people apply online or contact the Human Resources Department and arrange for an interview. In many cases, they find themselves being interviewed in the office of Jennifer Hart, the June, 2015 IGHL Employee of the Month.

"Most of the job openings we have are for Direct Care Counselors," Jennifer said. "What I look for is someone who wants to know about the individuals who are going to be in their care. If the applicant doesn't ask about who they're going to care for, I'm always cautious about recommending them for consideration."

Jennifer, who was highly recommended for the employee award by Senior Director of Human Resources Dori Geier, has been with IGHL since November, 2012, beginning as the HR receptionist.

"Being the receptionist at HR was the ideal job for learning about this department," she said. "You have to know the answers to so many questions without having to bother your co-workers."

This past December, Jennifer was promoted to Human Resources Recruiter, a position she clearly enjoys.

"What I really like about working in this office is the teamwork that everyone displays," she said. "I was really pleased when I was told that I was named Employee of the Month, but I honestly think that everyone I work with deserves the same recognition."

Jennifer and her husband Scott will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in September. They have 2 daughters, Jenna, 17, and Ashley, 13, and Alex, a 15-year-old son, all of whom attend William Floyd High School. Jennifer describes herself as "a soccer, lacrosse, and dance mom".

On June 23 at 3:00 PM at the IGHL Human Resources offices on Montauk Highway, Jennifer's friends, family (including her mom, Lorraine Martin, who has worked in the IGHL Accounting Department for 26 years this month) and her  co-workers will applaud as she receives her award.
