FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear HIMSS Maryland Members, Colleagues, and Partners,

Stepping into the role of President of the Board of Directors is both an honor and a moment of deep purpose. Maryland has always been a place where innovation, community, and healthcare leadership intersect — and our chapter reflects that strength. I’m grateful to serve a community that consistently shows up with curiosity, commitment, and a shared belief that technology can meaningfully improve lives.

We enter FY26–27 at a pivotal time for our state. Maryland continues to lead nationally in health information and technology, from HSCRC’s evolving value-based care models to CRISP’s expansion into social needs data, public health modernization, and real-time clinical insights. Our health systems are accelerating AI adoption, strengthening cybersecurity resilience, and advancing interoperability in ways that directly support clinicians, patients, and communities. These efforts are shaping a future where data, technology, and compassion work hand in hand — and our chapter will be right at the center of that momentum.

Our Focus for FY26–27

Strengthening Maryland’s Health Data Ecosystem We champion and advocate for statewide interoperability, health equity data integration, and the next generation of care coordination tools that support Maryland’s unique all‑payer model.

Advancing Responsible AI & Digital Transformation Our chapter convenes leaders across health systems, startups, academia, and government to ensure AI adoption in Maryland is ethical, transparent, and grounded in real clinical and community needs.

Elevating Workforce Development & Professional Growth We offer mentorship, leadership development, and hands-on learning opportunities — supporting students, emerging professionals, and seasoned executives alike.

Building Community, Collaboration, and Advocacy Maryland thrives when clinicians, technologists, policymakers, and industry partners work together. Our chapter creates spaces where diverse voices shape the future of health IT in our state.

A Community Powered by Volunteers

Our chapter’s strength comes from the dedication of our volunteers, sponsors and board members. Their commitment is the reason HIMSS Maryland remains one of the most active and impactful chapters in the country — a truth reflected in our long-standing reputation for excellence. To each of you: thank you for your time, your expertise, and your belief in the power of this community.

Looking Ahead

I invite every member — whether you’re new to HIMSS or a long-time leader — to be an active participant in shaping Maryland’s digital health future. This is a moment of extraordinary possibility. Let’s seize it together.

Let’s innovate boldly. Let’s collaborate deeply. Let’s lead with purpose.

Warm regards,

Cindy
