2.13.19: HIMSS19 Luncheon

Emerging Technologies Spring Series
HIMSS Board - Events Update
You may be wondering – what is Washington HIMSS up to? They don’t seem to be having the events I’m used to seeing...

I'm glad you asked. There are a few exciting changes coming this next year! We have sunseted some of our previous events, like the Executive Dinner and Futures Conference. These had a successful run, and we thank all of you who have attended in the past.

We have been listening to the feedback of our members, and we are deepening our focus on growing the participation of members from health-care provider systems . We will still have events for the general public, but we have heard your requests for more collaboration and networking events with your peers. We are always getting asked: “How can I get involved in HIMSS?” By creating more advisory groups, there will be additional opportunities for our members to get involved and attend smaller events that are more targeted to their interests.

We’ve created a CIO-CMIO Advisory Board to help guide us, and just had a our kick-off meeting on Feb 1st hosted by Seattle Children’s. The group had a lot to say about what their teams are interested in, and we are excited about the top themes they have identified. Our Program Chair Dwayne Neufeld has spearheaded this effort.

We have also launched a new Clinical Informatics Committee , headed by Kelly Nettle. This committee is open to all who would like to participate and in the early stages of determining their focus. If you are interested in participating and attending their monthly meetings, reach out to Kelly .

Our very successful Emerging Technologies series will continue this spring, where we will be focusing on Digital Health Innovation and career development discussions.

In the near term, we will have a luncheon at the HIMSS National Conference on Wednesday.

Dwayne and his growing Program Committee will be bringing forward an agenda of events for this year and beyond. So more to come! If you would like to participate in bringing forward great topics and events in our all-volunteer run Chapter, reach out to Dwayne .

If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out to us. We look forward to connecting with you this year!

The healthcare landscape is rapidly changing as new digital technologies are emerging and are increasingly integrated into the everyday delivery of healthcare. As patients are taking more ownership in managing their health, consumer-based and patient-facing technologies are at the front of this movement. The electronic health record spans across a health system and has quickly become a central factor in developing an organization’s digital strategy.

Navigating this new landscape can be challenging as the industry is faced with reducing cost, delivering high-quality patient centered care, and better managing limited resources. Come learn more about the digital health landscape from local experts from Xealth, suggestions on how to develop an effective digital strategy, and hear the lessons learned from Swedish of how they are implementing these tools.

CAMBIA GROVE: The 5 Points of Health Care™
The 5 Points of Health Care is a  Cambia Grove original framework  designed to better understand the health care system by breaking the system into five distinct sectors: Patient, Payers, Providers, Policymakers and Purchasers.
Utilizing this framework, Cambia Grove has designed a programming series with the goal of lowering the barrier to entry for innovators seeking to make changes in the health care system. Throughout the program, entrepreneurs and innovators will be introduced to the primary stakeholders in health care in such a way that they understand the challenges and where they can fit in to find innovative solutions to the critical issues facing the system.
Join us for these critical conversations, and sign up online !
