The Crossfit Open
The CrossFit Open is upon us. If you want to join in on the fun sign up today! It's for everyone of all levels! It's a fun international competition held online! The event starts tomorrow Thursday (Feb 27th, 2014), and runs weekly for 5 weeks - so you need to sign up today! It is a great test of your CrossFit skills, whether you are a beginner or a advanced athlete. The Workout is announced Thursday night at CrossFit.com and it must be completed by Monday evening. A group of HIPFIT clients, and athletes will be embarking on a road trip to Connecticut to race in the Quassy Rev 3 Olympic Distance triathlon event. This includes a 1.5km swim 40km bike ride and a 10km run. This event also has a relay. If you don't quite feel prepared to do the whole thing grab 2 friends and split the work! This event is family friendly with an amusement park located close by!

Beginner Triathletes - Welland Triathlon Weekend
Have you ever wanted to do a triathlon? The Welland Triathlon & Duathlon offers up one of the best course on the circuit, and if you're planning on racing here there's a good chance you're going to come away with a personal best time, whether racing the Give-It-A-Tri, triathlon, or half distance. Check out the Beginner program listed below to get you ready to complete in this event with all the coaching you need.

Olympic Lifting with Richard Gonsalves
HIPFIT and CFSO are excited to bring an amazing opportunity right here to our gym - Olympic lifting with Richard Gonsalves. Olympic Weightlifting is an international sport and a skill used in CrossFit. Richard's approach to Olympic Lifting is now available to be taught to you!
Here is his Bio:
I am an NCCP Level 2 certified weightlifting coach and nationally ranked Olympic Weightlifter. I have been the provincial scholastic champion for the last 4 years 2010-2013. 2013 Bronze medalist at Canadian Senior Nationals 94kg class. 2010 Silver Medalist at Canadian Junior Nationals 85kg class. Member of the 2013 Canadian National University Team that competed in Russia. Placed 10th. I have been lifting for 4 years and start when I started University at the University of Toronto. I am graduated now with a degree in Criminology and French. Other than weightlifting, my athletic background includes rugby and diving and i am well versed in SAQ (speed agility quickness), training, as well as functional body weight training. I specialize in Olympic Weightlifting movements and movements derived from high performance training. My ideology to training is that you are only as strong as your weakest link. Thus, my approach to training focus on all aspects of fitness including flexibility and strength, but more importantly the body mind connection which translates what you do in the gym to what you do in every day life.

New Classes
If you haven't heard yet we have a ton of new classes available at HIPFIT and CrossFit South Oakville.
SPEED RX - Need to get to work early or get the kids up? Then come to a workout designed for speed and sweat. Speed RX is a Tabata workout with 6 movements, 2 rounds and changed every class. Each workout will target all the 3 domains of fitness and leave you feeling charged for your day ahead! If you are new to CrossFit and don't want to hit the heavy weights then we can't wait to see you! From Beginner to Advanced welcome in this fast paced class!
ROW FIT: This endurance based workout will target every muscle and leave you huffing and puffing. This class focuses on cardio and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). It will shed the weight fast and furious
