SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective was founded in 1997 by 16 local, regional and national grassroots organizations in the United States. SisterSong was formed with the shared recognition that as Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC) we have the human right and responsibility to advocate for ourselves and our communities.

The mission of SisterSong is to amplify and strengthen the collective voices of BlPOC women and people of color to ensure Reproductive Justice (RJ) through securing human rights. SisterSong defines RJ as the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children (birth justice), not have children (access to safe and accessible abortions and contraceptive methods), and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities free from violence from any individual or the state.

As the first national RJ organization based in the South, we are committed to being an active part of Southern movement building and to deepening our work in the South to help build a stronger movement for RJ in the region.
We are working to expand our team. Join us and help to advance reproductive justice!
