Message from the CEO
At HISA we are always looking out for new ways to connect and engage the digital health community. Your ability to expand your health network and learn from others is the cornerstone of your HISA membership. So, I am pleased to announce some new opportunities to connect. Next time you log in to see your invoice and update your HISA profile you will see we have introduced a new member platform with group forums, news feed and directory. Its a social platform just for HISA members and it provides another way to engage and get the most from your membership. Check out the conversations happening between members and get involved!

We have also launched an enhanced career and jobs site to give members a dedicated site for digital health jobs and put a national focus on digital health careers. We are continuing to raise awareness of CHIA and involving some of our larger organisations and jurisdictions this year. Its all contributing to the movement towards a digitally enabled Australian health workforce. In our 25th anniversary year we are proud to be healthcares greatest innovators. There has never been a better time to renew or join HISA!

Angela Reed is coming to HIC 2018 and NIA conference!

The Sustainable Health Review (SHR) Interim Report has been released in Western Australia. Thank you to the many HISA members who contributed to HISAs submission. The interim report outlines the initial observations and views of the SHR Panel following extensive public and stakeholder engagement across Western Australia. The final report will be released in November. We will keep members updated and advise if further consultation is required.

Chia External Event CPD Endorsement Program

Have you developed educational events suited to the health informatics profession? Organisations are invited to apply to have their events endorsed to allow CHIAs to account for their participation in such events. Providers may choose to seek endorsement for a single activity such as a conference, workshop, seminar, webinar and podcasts. A CPD activity needs to enhance health informatics knowledge, skills and abilities through active learning. Apply today and have your event endorsed and recognised for quality education and training and use our CHIA endorsed logo in promoting the event.

Innovation Showcase Portal Launched
HISA is a supporting digital health partner of Health Horizon and the Australian Health Innovation Showcase through 2018. Funded by the Australian Government Medical Technology and Pharmaceutical Industry Growth Centre, the Showcase will provide a living showcase of health innovations in Australia, identifying, cataloguing and tracking in real time innovations under development in Australia. The Showcase was officially launched on the 26th February including a media statement. We look forward to playing our part in seeing the Showcase grow over the coming year.

First work placement
As part of the Australasian College of Health Informatics Fellowship by Training Program, the Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) has offered a paid six-month work placement to Program candidate Toby Hodgson. Toby has joined ADHA as a Digital Health Officer in the clinical governance division.

Participants wanted for study
Researcher Robab Abdolkhani, a PhD student, is seeking participants in a University of Melbourne Health and Biomedical Informatics Centre project called Quality management of patient-generated health data (PGHD) from wearables for clinical use. She is seeking health professionals from healthcare organisations in which data from any type of medical-grade or consumer-market wearables is being used or considered for use as part of patient care.

Connectathon on 17 April - BRISBANE
The Australian Digital Health Agency in collaboration with the CSIRO, is hosting its fifth technical Connectathon on the National Clinical Terminology Service (NCTS) including its use of HL7's Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®). This Connectathon is being held at Hotel Jen in the Brisbane CBD. Please note that this is a 1-day event (9am-6pm) that will be held prior to the HL7 Australia Connectathon.
