Members of the digital health community are meeting in Brisbane for HISA's national conference HIC 2017 (6-9 August). 


 
HISA welcomed delegates from across Australia and a host of international speakers and visitors at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition centre yesterday.   


 

In a packed agenda, HISA also announced some launches, a series of new initiatives and opportunities - as you can see outlined below.

New network for health executives

A new forum for digital health executives was announced at HIC yesterday by Richard Royle to promote health system excellence. The Australasian Digital Health Executives Network is seeking input from digital health executives and emerging career professionals. A small working group has been established and there will be an interim governing body to take leadership of the initiative. Place your expression of interest   HERE.

Nurses as digital health leaders & innovators

Nurses have a unique leadership role in ensuring a digitally enabled health
system delivers on the promise of better health for all Australians.  A joint position  paper released at the Nursing Informatics Australia conference @HIC by Austr alia's peak bodies  for nursing and digital health says as the largest single profession in the healthcare workforce, nurses need to be recognised and acknowledged for their enabling role in the digital health movement.  READ MORE

eSafety guidelines will be launched today

E-Safety - In another first, this week at HIC we are launching Australia's first eSafety Professional Practice Guidelines for digital health implementations. This publication from HISA is available on the HISA online bookshop. Congratulations to the editors David Rowlands, Dr John Zelcer, and Prof Trish Williams. 

CHIA numbers get a boost

HISA Chair Dr David Hansen said there were now more than 260 CHIAs in Australia, a number about to be significantly boosted by a new cohort of an additional 100 CHIAs embarking on the certification process in Queensland, supported by eHealth QLD. These places are a demonstration of the value CHIA can bring to hospitals, healthcare organisations and health services all over the country.

CXIOs - clinical informatics in the spotlight 

The Clinical Informatics Network, one of HISA's newly established communities of practice, held a workshop "CXIOs the new rockstars" and generated more momentum in this growing area.   The Steering Committee is seeking input to guide activities of the network through this SURVEY.  

New NIA appointees

Nursing Informatics Australia held its AGM  after the annual conference NIA 2017 at HIC. Donna Barton was elected Treasurer. Susan Stemp and Tasneem Islam were elected to the committee.  

 
The HISA Journal Club was officially launched. It will give members exposure for their research and  it will be a showcase for academic endeavour for health informatics.  Visit the Club to stay across latest research. 

Scholarship for HISA members

HISA members will be eligible to apply for a scholarship to undertake a health informatics degree at the University of Tasmania (UTAS).  UTAS is offering the Bachelor of e-Health (Health Informatics) Professional Honours on a scholarship basis to HISA members.  Applications are open from September with the course commencing in February 2018.  The online degree is a two-year part-time course.  READ MORE
