New HISA State Branch in Tasmania

The HISA Tasmania State Branch will become official next month, holding their first official meeting, including the inaugural Annual General Meeting.

The establishment of this new branch is a credit to the health informaticians in Tasmania, who have driven the re-boot of the HISA Tasmania State Branch.

Five presenters are scheduled to provide an overview of the state of health informatics in Tasmania, which will then be followed by the AGM.  Click here if you would like more information, and to register.

Special HISA Newcastle event to provide insights to new research

Associate Professor Bronwyn Hemsley will present key research findings on the use of the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) / My Health Record by young adults with severe communication disabilities, at the inaugural HISA NSW event in Newcastle on 20 November 2015.
A/Prof Hemsley, a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist, Member of Speech Pathology Australia and full time researcher at The University of Newcastle, is leading the three year project funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
The 'My Health Transition' research team is unique in that it combines the expertise of researchers in speech pathology, augmentative and alternative communication, health informatics, design, public health, nursing and communication disabilities, along with an expert consumer panel.  Read more here.

2015 SRI Security Congress  

The SRI Security Congress will be held in Perth on 30 November - 2 December and hosts five security based conferences over the three days. The 2015 Security Congress aims to draw together all areas of security professions and disciplines as part of a holistic engagement with the wider security discourse. 

Scholars of the following disciplines are encouraged to participate; strategic studies, public affairs, communication studies, international politics, criminology, business and management, information and computer science, political science, social science, psychology and cognitive science, and security studies.
