Innovating Health Series kicks off!

HISA in partnership with Accenture and other collaborators are commencing an Innovating Health Series commencing in Sydney next week.

The series will incorporate a number of executive roundtable events over the year, across major capital cities targeting topical health industry challenges. We aim to further raise the profile of the digital health innovation agenda in healthcare by bringing together health leaders and industry experts to challenge thinking, harness collective ideas and stimulate change. Session outputs will be shared with participants and others along with series commentary and specific resources. We aim to create a new conversation that contributes to change.

The first roundtable event will explore the Culture of Innovation with our guide Simon Terry. You can subscribe for series updates or get further information from Greg Moran.

HISA NSW - Striving for innovation
Greg Moran HISA and Amy Kwong Zebra Technologies

Thanks to everyone who attended the recent HISA NSW night on the theme of Striving for Innovation. The event was the annual collaboration with HealthTech Sydney focusing on digital health innovation. Keynote speaker was Alex Burke, CEO from TigerSpike, a global digital platform solutions provider born out of Sydney. Alex spoke about lessons and experiences learnt in digital platform innovation across a range of areas including healthcare, with a simple message of "keep it simple". It was also great to hear from growing innovative businesses in healthcare including MySpringDay, cohortIQ and WardConnect - all who have active projects with NSW health providers. Speakers can be contacted via HISA if you want more information.

Many thanks to Amy Kwong and Zebra Technologies for sponsoring the event and St Vincent's Private Hospital for providing the facilities.

On Thursday last week, the HISA webinar topic was Nursing Informatics.  The presenters, both joining in from the USA, were Brittney Wilson, also known as @The Nerdy Nurse and Lis Herbert, Chair of Nursing Informatics Australia (NIA) and currently working in New York City. Both Brittney and Lis highlighted the role that nurse informaticians play as change champions and translators between the IT specialists and clinicians to ensure the systems and technology support the best outcome for patients. The differences between Nursing Informatics roles in the USA and Australia was also explored.

The webinar is now available here. And make sure you catch up with both Brittney and Lis at the NIA Conference on 24 July and and at HIC 2016 from 25 July.
