Second e-safety consultation in April

The  second e-safety consultation webinar  will be taking place on  Tuesday 26 April.

Th is consultation is imperative to reduce risks arising from missing, incorrect, incomplete  and delayed health  information. HISA convened an expert group to begin the process of drafting an e-safety professional practice standard for Australia a year ago, and recently opened the papers for consultation. 

HISA welcomes input from our members, the digital informatics workforce, clinicians and organisations improving patient safety.

The Joan Edgecumbe Scholarship

HISA is proud to announce the Joan Edgecumbe Continued Professional Development Scholarship is open for submissions. 
 
This scholarship is to honour the continued service and passion to the health informatics sector by Mrs Joan Edgecumbe - one of HISA's founding members. 

Applications are open to current undergraduate, graduate certificate, diploma, masters and PhD students who demonstrate commitment and promise in the field of health informatics.

The Joan Edgecumbe Scholarship will provide a full registration to  HIC , admittance to associated events  and  the HIC Gala Awards Dinner (valued at up to $1,500).

HISA breakfast in Perth - tomorrow!

Join HISA for the first ever HISA Breakfast in Perth on March 30 - Perioperative Medicine - Digital Strategies and Global Trend.

The event will feature Dr John Ellingham FANZCA and Stephen Fitzgerald CIO to explore clinical and IT experiences in implementing digital systems to support perioperative medicine and anaesthesiology in hospital settings.

Reflection on a number of case studies and emerging technology trends will be discussed. This is a wonderful opportunity to network with colleagues and learn from others in a relaxed breakfast format. The event is proudly supported by Getz Clinical.

Get involved with Digital Hospital Design

Leading the way in digital hospital transformations in Australia, St Stephens  Hospital in Hervey Bay was designed from the ground up as a state-of-the-art facility. Implementations of new technologies, electronic health records and closed loop medications management systems are occurring across the nation.

Nurses: Your chance to speak up!

NIA 2016 will take place on Sunday 24 July in Melbourne in association with HIC.  This year's conference theme:  The role of the nurse in digital health innovation for consumers, clinicians, connectivity, community.

If you are a nurse working in a clinical environment, HISA and NIA encourage you to submit a brief abstract describing your experiences with informatics projects and the digital transformation of healthcare.

The Global Business Challenge is a global innovation competition to solve global problems. The challenge for 2016 is health - in particular solutions to 'improve the effectiveness and cost of health care outcome for isolated communities'. $325,000 in prizes to support a pilot plus opportunities for downstream roll-out funding.
