Opportunity:
GAO Seeking Nominations for Health IT Advisory Committee
GAO is now accepting nominations for HITAC appointments. From these nominations, GAO expects to appoint at least five new HITAC members, focusing especially on health care providers, ancillary health care workers, health information technology developers, and patient advocates. Members serve 3-year terms beginning January 1, 2022, with the terms subject to renewal. Interested nominees should submit letters of nominations and resumes to HITCommittee@gao.gov by August 24, 2021.
By LEAPs and Bounds: Newest Round of Awardees Seek to Advance Health Equity and Research

Each year since 2018, new Leading Edge Acceleration Projects (LEAP) in Health IT awardees join an entrepreneurial group dedicated to developing and scaling technological breakthroughs. 

For 2021, LEAP in Health IT focused on two areas of interest:
  • Area 1: Referral Management to Address Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Aligned with Clinical Care
  • Area 2: Health IT Tools to Make Electronic Health Record (EHR) Data Research- and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Ready

Wisconsin Governor Signs Insurance Cybersecurity Act into Law
According to a report in JD Supra, Wisconsin is one of the latest states to “adopt the National Association of Insurance Commissioner's (NAIC) model cybersecurity law.”  
Wisconsin’s governor signed the law, Act 73, on July 15. The law will help protect the PII and PHI that insurance companies collect from individuals.
