Innovating Change in Long Term Care Homes Across Ontario

As the fight against COVID-19 presents many challenges in Long Term Care Homes (LTCH), eConsult has become a critical tool for providing care for one of the hardest hit patient demographics during the pandemic. As a result of the eConsult Centre of Excellence's efforts to implement eConsult in LTCHs in Ontario, they have received the following recognition over the past month.

Future Innovator Award Granted by the Change Foundation

The Change Foundation has awarded the eConsult in LTC Team the Future Innovator Award, recognizing that “eConsult transforms the referral-consultation landscape in long-term care, and it can be a game-changer in a new pandemic environment, where most long-term care residents will not have the option to travel from their home”.

Ottawa Program Recognized for Bringing Virtual Specialists to
Long-term Care Residents

Marking the success of the Change Foundation Award, the Ottawa Citizen covered the history behind the eConsult BASE (Building Access to Specialists through eConsultation) Program, and its current benefits to LTC residents. You can read the article here.

Newly Published Research Article:
"The Feasibility of Using Electronic Consultation in
Long-Term Care Homes"

Recently, an academic article was published in the Journal of the American Medical Director’s Association (JAMDA), demonstrating the feasibility of implementing eConsult in LTC settings.

OTNHub.ca Express Sign-up Is Now Available for Medical Students, Medical Residents and Fellows

Medical Students, Medical Residents and Fellows are now able to register for OTNHub.ca using the express sign-up option.

To use this option, you must be part of an OTN Hub Member Organization and have a ONE ID account. If you need a ONE ID account, please contact eConsult@HITSeHealth.ca for support.

You will be able to select ‘Express Sign Up’ on the registration landing page and proceed, choosing medical resident/fellow or medical student when prompted.

Once set-up, you will immediately have access to eVisits (video conferencing). If you require access to eConsult, complete the eConsult: Registration and Support Form and email it to: eConsult@HITSeHealth.ca .
