Chapter News

The HLAA-CS Leadership team has a vacancy for the  Welcome Committee Chairperson .

The responsibilities include setting up the Welcome table and HLAA-CS literature, and greeting people as they arrive, ensuring that they sign in, and sending new guests a welcome note.  This is a  Board position , and the chairperson must be a  member of HLAA National and be able to  attend Chapter meetings.  To learn about the benefits of membership and to sign up, click  here .

 
The Chapter is also looking for a dedicated
Refreshment Coordinator.

The responsibilities include ensuring we have people signed up to bring refreshments to the Chapter meetings,  sending out the reminders, and setting up and cleaning up refreshments  each month,    This person must b e able to attend Chapter meetings but does not have to be a member of HLAA National, nor is this a Board position.  

Kay has been our Welcome Committee Chair and has managed both the Welcome table and the refreshments.  She has served the Chapter for many years and will be stepping down as Chair the end of this year.  THANK YOU, KAY!

  In other words, we need  five people to  sign up to bring refreshments for the January - May Chapter meetings. Sign up sheet is on the refreshment counter during our Chapter meetings.  THANK YOU!
HLAA-CS received a $900 grant from the  Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf/Blind  for CART services at our meetings.  THANK YOU, CCDHHDB!
We are grateful this Veterans Day for ALL who have served our  country!  We are proud to have several Veterans in the HLAA-CS Chapter!

  • Lifestyle
  • State/Chapter Development (see form for topics)
For those who are interested in presenting in the State and Chapter Development room, please fill out the  State/Chapter Call for Papers form . Be sure to read the  state/chapter CFP instructions  prior to submitting a proposal.

The deadline for Call for Papers submissions is Friday, November 30.

Inclement Weather Policy

I n the event of bad weather on the day of a chapter meeting or event, an email notice of cancellation will be sent out by 10 a.m.   Be Sure to Check Your Email Before You Head Out

For those of you who

your own clipboard  since  we are not sitting at tables.  


Our speaker will be  JoAnne  Hirsch ,  Manager, with the 
Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf/Blind (CCDHHDB) Communications Technology Program (CTP)

This program  provides communications resources and tools, such as amplified and captioned phones, smartphones and tablets, as well as ring signalers and neck loops or head sets and specialized equipment at no charge to qualified deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind.

Hearing Loops in Medical Offices!!
The Independence Center recently received nominations from the community for physician offices to receive    Hearing Loop Systems  free of charge!
  
The awardees accepting Hearing  Loop systems are:

Age Well and Associates
Value Care Health Clinic
UCCS Aging Center

The installation was scheduled for the end of October 2018.

Kaiser Permanente was nominated to receive a Hearing Loop system but declined.  To improve accessibility for their patients they are purchasing multiple systems for their office.
