Lakewood Food Resource Guide
In Lakewood, one in ten residents rely on food stamps. Another one in ten earns too much to qualify for food stamps but qualifies for emergency food services. There are various programs in our community that offer supplemental food support programs for those who need it.
Lakewood Community Services Center (LCSC) provides home food delivery to over 1,400 households in Lakewood on a bi-monthly basis. Residents can register here. LCSC also provides a monthly food delivery to seniors living in subsidized senior apartment buildings in Lakewood. Those residents can register through their building’s service coordinator.
Through the Lakewood Department of Human Services – Division of Aging, both hot congregate and home meal delivery service are provided Monday – Friday for residents 60 years and older. Call (216) 521-1515 to make lunch, transportation, or delivery arrangements. Suggested donation for congregate and home delivered meals is $1.00.
Community Meals are provided through a network of volunteers with local churches and schools. Meals are provided several times a week. The Community Meal calendar and map can be viewed here.
Students in the Lakewood City Schools can qualify for the free or reduced lunch program and families can reach out to their school's Family Resource Coordinator or Guidance Counselors with any questions. More information is available here. Breakfast is also available every weekday at a significantly reduced cost for qualifying families.
The Lakewood YMCA receives donated food from a range of local businesses on a daily basis. Area residents are warmly welcome to take what is needed. You do not need to be a YMCA member to enter the front lobby and access the food. Contact the YMCA at 216-521-8400.
