HLF Welcomes Sharon Schuldt as

Foundation and Grants Coordinator

The Healthy Lakewood Foundation is pleased to announce the hiring of Sharon Schuldt for the position of Foundation and Grants Coordinator. In this role, Sharon will support the administrative, board, grantmaking, and community engagement functions of the Foundation. Sharon brings extensive experience in donor development, event and project planning, grant and proposal writing, and volunteer management.


Sharon previously served as the Development Director of Cleveland Public Theatre and also as the Development Manager at Building Hope in the City. Sharon’s first career was as a labor and delivery nurse. Her experience in both health care delivery systems and non-profit management will be of benefit to the Foundation.


Sharon holds an MA in Nonprofit Management from Johns Hopkins University and a BSN in Nursing from Malone University. She and her husband have been raising their three children in Lakewood since 2014. Sharon is an active community volunteer with various Lakewood PTAs, the Beck Center, and Lakewood Congregational Church. She can be reached at sharon@healthylakewoodfoundation.org

HLF's Neighborhood Opportunity Grants Applications Open on August 14

HLF’s second Neighborhood Opportunity Grant process opens on Monday, August 14, 2023.  Neighborhood Opportunity Grants are small, accessible, and community-based grants that support meaningful projects at the hyperlocal level.


The funding seeks to increase community engagement, creativity, and connection by addressing any social determinants of health. Neighborhood Opportunity Grants funding ranges from $1,000 – $10,000. Applications will close on September 26, 2023 with funding announced on November 30.

HLF’s Annual Meeting Will Be Held on September 20th – Save the Date!

HLF’s fifth annual community meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at 7:00 PM at the Cove Community Center (12525 Lake Ave.). HLF is excited to celebrate its 5th birthday with the community and share the progress of our funding and engagement efforts in Lakewood. Please register.

The Healthy Lakewood Foundation (HLF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public charity. HLF was created to ensure remaining assets from the conversion of the Lakewood Hospital continue to benefit the health and wellbeing of residents in the City of Lakewood. HLF’s grantmaking addresses the social determinants of health, the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age in Lakewood, Ohio. HLF’s mission is to advance programs, policies, and practices that inspire a Lakewood community in which health and wellness are reflected in all aspects of life.
