Information Session


Reminder: HLF is hosting a Grants Information Session on Wednesday June 26th at 6:30p. We invite you to join us as we review updated guidelines for Neighborhood Opportunity Grants with ample time for questions. This event is free, open to the public, and will be held at Cove Community Center. Childcare will be provided if requested upon registration. Please register here.

Neighborhood Opportunity Grant Application Opens August 19


HLF’s Neighborhood Opportunity Grant process opens on Monday August 19 and will close on September 20, with funding announced by the end of November.


These grants are small, accessible, and community-based grants that support meaningful projects at the hyperlocal level in Lakewood. The funding seeks to increase community engagement, creativity, and connection by addressing aspects of health and well-being. Funding ranges from $1,000 – $7,500.

Save the Date: HLF's Annual Community Meeting


HLF's 6th Annual Community Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at 7p at Cove Community Center (12525 Lake Avenue). You'll learn more about the progress of HLF funding and engagement in the Lakewood community.


Childcare will be provided this year with advanced registration. Registration information coming soon, but in the meantime - Save the Date!

Connecting for Kids is hosting many great programs throughout Lakewood this summer. All programs are free and open to the public.

The Lakewood Family Room is taking their Family Room events to Cove Park for the summer! There is a great playground at Cove Park and the Family Room will have extra things to entertain kids of all ages - expect art projects, bubbles, chalk, cars and trucks, sensory friendly bins and more.


Dress to get dirty and don't forget sunscreen, water bottles, snacks, and chairs. Invite your friends - the more the merrier!

LakewoodAlive has kicked off their Front Porch Concert Series and concerts continue to take place every Friday in June and July, with the last two in July at the Madison Park Pavilion.

The Lakewood Historical Society is hosting their Annual Sale on the Grounds from June 20-23. Hours are 9a to 3p Thursday to Saturday and noon to 3p on Sunday.


The event takes place at the Nicholson House (13335 Detroit Ave.) and features the sale of home decor, collectibles, kitchen items, jewelry, and so much more. Proceeds to benefit the programs and properties of the Lakewood Historical Society. For more information, visit their website.

The H2O Help to Others Annual Clothing Drive is Saturday July 20 from 9a to 3p at Garfield Middle School.


This pop up event is a city-wide event that provides affordable clothes to all, as well as a fun thrift shope environment. Look for donation bins soon at Lakewood fire stations and Cove Community Center. And - plan to shop!

The 3rd Annual GardenWalk Lakewood is on July 20 from 10a to 5p.


This free event is open to all and highlights the many beautiful traditional and non-traditional gardens throughout Lakewood.
