The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology ( ONC ) released its final report on the  Strategy on Reducing Regulatory and Administrative Burden Relating to the Use of Health IT and EHRs  as mandated by the  21st Century Cures Act . ONC 2020-2025 Strategic Plan: Not Much for Public Health
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology ( ONC ) released a  draft 2020-2025 Federal Health IT Strategic Plan   that acknowledges public health and the use of health information technology (HIT). But it has the focus of "putting the individual first" rather than balancing a similar principle to promote public health with the critical goals and objectives. New eHI Report: State of Patient Matching in America
Patient matching is one of the areas called out by Congress in the  21st Century Cures Act for review and consideration. About 70% of respondents agreed that a nationwide patient identifier strategy should be implemented, and additionally that Federal funding should be made available to create it. Update to ICE Open Source Immunization Forecasting Software
A new release of the Immunization Calculation Engine ( ICE ) was issued over the past few months and the latest version (v 1.22.1 ) is now available. ICE is a state-of-the-art open-source software system that provides clinical decision support (CDS) for immunizations for use in Immunization Information Systems (IIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Personal Health Record (PHR) Systems. HLN Conference Update
HLN attended the tenth  ONC Annual Meeting  in Washington, D.C. T he theme of this conference was the patient, and putting patient access to information at the center of activity. There was  lots  of discussion about  FHIR  (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) as the next greatest technology for interoperability.
