This article describes the use of My Turn at two points of dispensing in California and comments on process improvements to reduce manual tasks of six identified processes of vaccination.

HLN presented at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Data Modernization Workshop. The presentation was on integrated child health information system architecture models, using Rhode Island’s KIDSNET as an example. The talk included a discussion about how such models can inform DMI, as well as considerations for such models in a DMI and FHIR-enabled world.

The HLN Consulting team attended the ASTHO Public Health TechXpo 2022 and presented at the SolutionX breakout session. Over 1400 participants were registered for the TechXpo. Here are some highlights.

The Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense recently released a new report titled The Athena Agenda: Advancing the Apollo Program for Biodefense. The “Athena Agenda” primary IT recommendation is the development of a National Public Health Data System. Here are some comments on the report from a public health perspective.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) related to changes in the Medicare Program Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems for Acute Care Hospitals and the Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System. Here are some comments on the NPRM from a public health perspective.

Immunization Information Systems (IIS), electronic health records (EHR), and consumer health apps all need to determine if vaccinations received are clinically valid and if people are up-to-date with their vaccinations. But very often, external systems that receive IIS data do not make use of this information.
