What Businesses Need To Know About The Google Ad Changes For Data Privacy And Enhanced Conversions
Google is capable of collecting mountains of pertinent data, but users are increasingly concerned about their privacy.


The DL: The DL: As data privacy concerns continue to increase, powerhouses like Google need to find new ways to keep both consumers and advertisers happy. Google’s new privacy controls that they announced in May of 2021 intended to let consumers determine who has access to their data. But Google is in the game of making money, so to keep their advertisers happy as well, they introduced enhanced conversions. Although you can now opt-out of data collection, enhanced conversions uses the data customers supply in a web form during a conversion (i.e. name, email, address, etc.). It is anonymized and sent back to Google so that you can still see the aggregated analytics of your conversions. This is something that needs to be set up in AdWords (is it Adwords or Google Ads?), so HM will be sure to guide our clients on what needs to be done to ensure our campaigns continue to be as successful as possible.
Nielsen Asks To Take A Break From Key Media-Industry Seal Of Approval
The company requested hiatus from Media Rating Council accreditation before a council committee vote on its status.


The DL: Nielsen Holdings PLC is requesting to pause accreditation for its national TV rating service, leaving its core product without the organization’s seal of approval for the first time since the 1960s. More than likely this will not affect the initial bottom line. However, it could put in question the confidence of Nielsen’s TV network undercounting of viewers.

While more platforms begin to add shopping capabilities to their array of functions, social media platforms are now acting as an opportunity for product discovery. Currently at 80 million shoppers, it is predicted that there will be over 100 million people buying through a social media channel by 2023, an increase of 25%.
Twitter Expands Access To Professional Profiles And Ticketed Spaces
Twitter’s looking to keep its foot on the development accelerator, with the expansion of two new projects that will provide more opportunities for brands and creators in the app.


The DL: Businesses may benefit from Twitter’s latest features. First, Professional Profiles which were initially tested in April 2021; now, more businesses are being invited to use this feature which will display elements to your page such as business location, hours of operation, and contact info.

Secondly, Twitter is also expanding Spaces, an interactive live broadcast feature. Audiences can now purchase tickets for experiences provided by creators. Twitter and the app store will take a percentage of the generated revenue for hosting the ticketed Spaces. The last feature Twitter just rolled out is called Communities, which models after Facebook Groups and Reddit Communities.

With Twitter making updates to both Spaces and Communities, it is not clear which feature is here to stay.
Instagram Publishes New Holiday Season Guide, Highlighting Its Latest ECommerce Additions
With Christmas now only 100 days away, Instagram has today launched a new guide to help brands maximize their promotional efforts on the platform, specifically focused on the use of Instagram’s Shops and other eCommerce features.


The DL: It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS! Yes, we are aware it's still September... but, with Christmas being only 100 days away, we're here to let you in on a new development: Instagram has just launched a guide to help brands maximize their promotional efforts during the holiday season. This guide primarily focuses on Instagram shops and other eCommerce features in the app.

Instagram's "Holiday Szn" mini site provides users a list of tips on key promotional and eCommerce tools. In addition, the guide also includes usage insights and tips on product details, ads, shopping tags, and more.

This collection of tips is sure to be useful for brands who are looking to amp up their Instagram marketing game before the holiday season (which as we know, is quickly approaching).
