March News

Dear HMS Families,

It's hard to believe March 1st is here and we are starting our 4th 8 weeks of school. Our 3rd 8 week grading period ended on Friday, February 26th, and the final grades are now ready to view on your child's progress book. March brings in the warmer weather but also signifies that it's time to get into testing mode. This year the state tests will start Monday, March 22 (ELA) and will take us through Friday, May 7 (Math & Science). As a parent, it is important to talk with your kids about staying focused on the test without overstressing. Your child prepares every day for these assessments. When the day comes, it should be nothing different than what they already are doing in the classroom. How can you help? Make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep the night before and eating a well-balanced breakfast. Free breakfast is available daily to all Harding students. Track season has begun, and it’s imperative for these student-athletes to stay focused in the classroom in order to remain eligible. We can't wait to see what our hardworking athletes have in store for us this spring! Also, we want to wish the best of luck to those students participating in the Remote Regional Spelling Bee.
If I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. My e-mail address is  or you can reach me by phone at Harding Middle School, (740) 282-3481.

Principal Bryan Mills
Homeroom teachers were given free breakfast and lunch data forms to pass out to their students. If your student does not have one, they can pick up a form from the office. The forms need to be filled out and turned back in so that we can continue to receive federal funding. Thank you

National Junior Honor Society News
Three of The National Junior Honor Society’s pillars are CHARACTER, LEADERSHIP and SERVICE. In February, our members modeled these qualities by sending virtual Valentine’s to children at St. Jude’s Hospital, selling candy grams at lunch, and raising money for a local family in need. THANK YOU to our HMS families for the generous contributions.  Kindness Matters.
