EDUCATE - MOTIVATE - INSPIRE

HMS Families,

As we prepare to wrap up the first quarter, I am extremely pleased to say that the reopening of the school has been a success. I would personally like to thank all the staff, students and parents for trusting us with the process and continuing to be flexible and work hard during this unprecedented time. Although we know that this change was inevitable, I believe that the students greatly benefit from having access to their learning when they work directly with the teachers. I have observed many classrooms throughout the building and I am proud of the work that our team has put into place to support students learning in multiple settings. We continue to monitor spacing and options for increasing student numbers as they return to face to face learning. Our Intervention team will continue to focus on identifying the population that needs the highest academic support as we move into our second quarter.

We have two picture days set up for our In-school students. The forms will be sent home the Monday before their scheduled picture day. The first quarter grades will close on Oct. 16. You can contact the office to get help setting up your Progress Book account to view your child’s grades if you haven’t done so yet. We will also be sending out more information about our Parent Teacher Conferences soon. This year HMS will be providing virtual conferences by appointment only.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at bmills@rollred.org or 740-282-3481.

Sincerely,
Principal Bryan Mills

7th Grade Shots

Dear 7th grade parents,
7th grade students are required by the State of Ohio to have 2 vaccines; meningococcal and Tdap. These vaccines can be obtained from your primary care provider, the Jefferson County Health Department, Change, INC., Express Care, Walmart, Kroger or Walmart pharmacies. To use the school based clinic of Change, Inc. you must have filled out the paperwork to be a patient of theirs first. They will give the vaccines during school hours by appointment due to social distancing and provide HMS with the needed paperwork. At whichever location you choose, you will be given paperwork to prove the shot was obtained. HMS needs a copy of this paperwork for the report to the State of Ohio. If for some reason your student cannot take these vaccines then an exemption can be filed. This paperwork is in the main office. Your timely attention to this matter is appreciated as there is a deadline for the State report. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school nurse at 740-282-3481 Ext. 4125

Thank you and Stay Safe,
Amy Neely, RN, BSN, CSN
