What's Happening In August

August 2023

Welcome Back

Message from our Principal:

We are excited to welcome back all of our returning students and give a massive shoutout to our new staff and incoming 5th-grade students! We hope you had a summer filled with fun and adventure. Now, it's time to buckle up and get ready for an unforgettable school year at HMS! Our staff is recharged and ready to dive back into the full swing of school.

I want to invite each student and a parent (legal guardian) to attend our grade-level orientations on August 16th and 17th. See below in this newsletter for specific times. Students must be accompanied by their parent or guardian to complete the student forms and pay the $10 student fee. Included in the forms are bus sign-ups. All students planning on riding a school bus must be registered for the bus. Students may not change buses without approval from the HMS administration.

*If your child is in 5th grade or a new student and is unable to attend orientation, you may call the office to schedule a time that is convenient for you.

If you are eligible to use the waiver form, you must have your CareSource or UnitedHealthcare card number for the waiver.

If at any time you have a question about what is occurring in your student’s class, please contact your student’s teacher. Your child’s classroom teacher is always the place to start. If you still have concerns, then you should contact the administration staff for support. We all need to work together to benefit our students.

Together, let's make this year the best one yet at HMS!

Everyone here at Harding Middle School is very thankful for the opportunity to educate your child(ren). It is truly an honor that we take very seriously and thank you for your constant support.

If you would like to contact me, my e-mail address is [email protected]. You can also reach me by phone at Harding Middle School, at (740) 282-3481.

Sincerely,

Principal Bryan Mills

7th Grade Vaccines

Attention parents of incoming 7th graders,

The Meningococcal and T-dap vaccines are required for entry into the 7th grade. This is an Ohio Department of Health mandate. Proof of the vaccines or an exemption must be on file by the 3rd week of school in 2023 or they will not be allowed to return to school until it's done. Please be aware attendance and truancy procedures will still take place if your student is missing school. Check with your child's physician to make sure all immunizations are up to date.

Change, Inc will take appointments for 7th-grade shots. The School-Based Health Center is open every day from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

You can schedule an appointment for your child to be seen during school by calling 740-284-5712 Option 3.
