LADY STALLION VOLLEYBALL
As the 2019 Volleyball season has come to an end, the players and coaches have enjoyed reflecting on all the good times, memories, and accomplishments of this season. The 7th grade volleyball team finished the season with a final record of 9-8 and the 8th grade finishing with a record of 7-10. Although that is not the outcome we were hoping for, our players have a tremendous amount of things to be proud of. The 7th grade volleyball team had huge wins over New Philadelphia in two sets 25-21 and 25-18, St.Clairsville in two sets 25-16 and 25-19, and Wellsville in three sets 25-22, 16-25 and 25-23. The 8th grade volleyball team had a huge win over Beaver Local in the 2nd set winning 29-27, the first time in many years for this to happen. They also defeated Martins Ferry in three sets 25-20, 16-25 and 25-23 and Carrollton in two short sets 25-14 and 25-19. Each and every girl contributed to the success of the team in their own unique way and worked hard throughout the summer and season to improve their skills and fundamentals.
Although the Stallion’s volleyball team saw their season come to an end October 12th at the Bellaire Tournament, the girls are all determined to work hard in the off season to improve their skills and come back better than ever next year. Thank you to all the parents, players and staff members for contributing to the success of our team and for the constant support of our players. We would like to wish our 8th grade volleyball team best of luck as they embark on a new journey as high school athletes and are excited for our 7th graders to come back ready to have a strong season as 8th graders.
The Harding Middle School Cross Country team had a great season this year. The girls team finished out the season participating in a total of 6 regularly scheduled meets. In four out of the six meets, the girls team placed in the top 1st or 2nd and had runners place in the top 15. Regardless of the temperature, the girls always pushed through and gave it their all. Each meet the runners could see personal progress and gains, as well as their times getting faster and faster.
Two additional meets were available to runners who had qualifying times. This meant the runners needed to have a fast enough time in order to participate at the meet. The girls qualified as a team to compete in one of the largest Cross Country meets in the state. This race consisted of over 400 middle school girls and over 50 participating schools.
The last meet of the season was the Ohio Valley Cross Country League Championship where the girls finished with fantastic personal records and placed 2nd as a team, as well as having 3 members placing in the top 15.
The girls team did an amazing job this year and Harding is so very proud of them!
