Community Nominations Opens Tomorrow
This program welcomes HOBY alumni, volunteers, and partner organizations to nominate students for our State Leadership Seminars. Advocates for students who attend virtual and home schools, or students whose schools are unaware of or unable to participate in our programming, are also encouraged to nominate students through this program.
Community Nominations help ensure that we continue to achieve our organizational goal of welcoming as many students as possible to this step on their leadership journeys. This is an opportunity for you to nominate a student you know for their own HOBY experience and to encourage other community members to do the same.
The system automatically opens the nominations process, and the shareable link is unique to each seminar, accessible via the HOBY website.

Program Curriculum Resources
-
New! Program Curriculum Guide: this guide details all the elements of state seminar program curriculum. It’s designed to help volunteers to navigate between what is required, recommended, and optional to include at a HOBY seminar, as well as several other tools to help with seminar planning.
-
Summary of Changes - 2023: each year, the HOBY program resources evolve to adjust to the outstanding ideas and best practices of the field. This year, some adjustments have been made to help expand volunteer resources and ease the challenges volunteers face when putting together an outstanding program.
-
Program Curriculum Checklist: the checklist has been updated for 2023, but the process is the same! Each seminar must submit a checklist for review at least 45 days before their seminar start date.
If you have any questions or would like to meet to discuss your program, please reach out to Angie at magazinoa@HOBY.org or feel free to schedule a meeting with her by clicking here.

Join us for the next Town Hall
HOBY will host its next town hall on February 1, at 8pm ET! RSVP here and please feel free to submit any questions you’d like answered when you RSVP!
As you start working on unpaid registrations, just a reminder that all the communication in the registration kits has explained that payment is due 30 days after the registration date. Communicating this with your schools and parents now helps for a smooth transition as the seminar approaches! If you have any questions, reach out to Michael at carterm@hoby.org.

Diversity Scholarships - Update
Thank you to those volunteers who have reached out about Diversity Scholarships! We appreciate the opportunity to be transparent about next steps. Last year's scholarships were funded by a grant. We also did not see universal usage of these scholarships so need to rethink how they are offered and applied. We are working hard at seeking grants specifically for scholarships and will keep you updated as things develop. If you have any questions, please reach out to Emily at lewise@hoby.org.

Reminder: Volunteer Applications
& System Access
With the launch of HOBY Connect and the Volunteer Resource Center, we want to remind everyone of how volunteers will gain access to these systems and HOBY Online.
-
All volunteers must complete the Annual Volunteer Application (click here).
- All volunteers must be approved locally by the LSC (Chapters and Affiliates) or Corporate Board President (Affiliates). Corporate Board Presidents and Chapter LSCs will be approved by HOBY HQ.
- HOBY HQ will finalize approval of the volunteer once they have received local approval.
- Within 7 business days of HQ's approval, the volunteer will be added to HOBY Connect and the Volunteer Resource Center.
We are monitoring volunteer applications closely, and there is no need to email requests to HOBY HQ to add volunteers to the systems unless you or a fellow volunteer have access issues. If that occurs, please reach out to Angie at magazinoa@HOBY.org.
