Bits and Pieces
April 21, 2026
| | Click on the Picture for more Information | | Wow…it feels great to me to be back in the saddle and home again at the shop! It felt like I had been gone a loooong time, and actually, I was! First was a week out for training in New Jersey with Janome, for Lynn and I to get more familiar with the Janome machines, and that was a successful week. Then I was back at the shop a few days before surrendering to the dreaded RSV virus that was going around. I was out of commission for 12 days, and so was everyone else that I learned had gotten it: terrible sore throat, loss of voice, intermittent fever, extreme fatigue, stuff like that. Lynn jumped in and wrote the newsletters and she and the rest of the crew here stepped up to keep things on course and running smoothly, and I thank them all! I am so lucky to have them!!! | | It took a while to get caught up on all the new fabrics that had come in, check out the sales that were happening, plow my way back through all the stuff on my desk and the emails, and realize once again that I am definitely not a neat freak! Hubby nicknamed me Ms. Cram and Jam, and I have to admit that the title fits. However, like those of you who have the same issue, we can generally locate just about everything on the desk (or counter or pantry or closet) very quickly. If some “helpful” person tries to help us out by straightening things out, then we can’t find anything. So my organized chaos is now back the way I need it to be, and I’m moving forward. | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | A reminder that Wednesday is the second of many “Embroidery On Everything” class with Lauri. Caveat: to take this class, you must have purchased the BERNINA Skill Hub card, since all the instructions and video are found there. The classes are then free. We will be teaching lessons 3 and 4 on April 22. There is a supply list of what you’ll need to bring to the class, so be sure to pick it up. You will be working with the machine and accessories, plus magnetic hoops, stabilizers and a twill patch and a towel which we will provide for your projects! These classes are designed to make you comfortable with your embroidery machine, to teach you about new hoops and how they are different and what they are best used for, as well as different stabilizers for different techniques! The less commonly used stabilizers will also be provided so you can see if this is a technique you think you will enjoy and be making more! Sort of a “try before you buy” learning experience for you. Don’t forget to bring your Skill Hub card with you, and if you don’t have one, we have them at the shop. | | Sew Sisters classes with Marilyn take place Tuesday and Wednesday, April 28 and 29. This is an on-going, monthly class of skill building, unique projects, or projects of your own choosing. Marilyn is an artist as well as a quilter, very knowledgeable as well as accomplished in her fields. Come check out the class, see her class samples in our classroom, be prepared to have fun as you learn new things and expand your talent! | | This is Serger month, so both Janome and BERNINA are sponsoring special prices and/or accessory gifts with your purchase. You read all about the offers last week in the newsletter, so drop in and see them work! Not a serger but looking for a special machine buy??? We have those for you also. Note the B 475 QE now has the BERNINA jumbo bobbin with 70% more thread, the patchwork #37 foot and a savings of $1200. This offer will end at the end of this month, FYI. My on- sale pick this month for Janome is the CM6: a savings of $3000 PLUS optic magnifiers, the AccuFeed flex foot, an extra wide table and more. Not to be missed are the different sized quilting machines from the Little Rebel to the Q’nique 21X Elite specially priced with various sizes of quilting frames. Choose your machine, choose your desired frame and we’ll pair them with spectacular price savings on the pair that you desire. | | Ditto-the-WonderHorse has yet to lose all of her winter coat (her white belly area is so very soft !!! and fluffy), it’s getting warm out again, so I’m gonna saddle back up and head for home, give her tummy rubs to try help her lose some of the longer hair, enjoy the outdoors with Murfee and the rest, know that I’ll be back in the shop probably tomorrow, and totally at peace with life! I hope that you have that same sense of peace this week!!! For our weekly special, I’d like to offer you our entire selection of wideback fabrics at 20% off!!!
