Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of homeless persons and others in need within the greater Camden, New Jersey area by providing primary, preventative and related health care services...regardless of their ability to pay.


The COVID-19 pandemic added a major new role for Project H.O.P.E. in response to emerging health priorities in our community. 


*As of 9/24/21 Project H.O.P.E. has administered over 12,200 COVID vaccinations and over 11,000 tests.

Project H.O.P.E. Awarded HRSA Recognition Badges

Project H.O.P.E., Inc was awarded three HRSA Community Health Quality Recognition Badges. The PCMH badge recognizes Project H.O.P.E.'s notable quality achievements in the areas of access, quality, health equity, and health information technology.

The COVID-19 badges recognizes Project H.O.P.E.'s contributions to the public health emergency response in the areas of testing and vaccinations.

The Ninth Annual Chancellor’s Awards for Civic Engagement pay tribute to all members of the Rutgers–Camden community whose work allows the university to expand both its reputation and actions as a national leader in civically engaged learning. Project H.O.P.E. received the Rutgers University Chancellor's Award for Civic Engagement. Patricia DeShields, CEO, received the award on behalf of the health center.

Project H.O.P.E. Celebrates

National Health Center Week 2021

Project H.O.P.E. led on the forefront with pride and empathy for the kick-off of National Health Center Week 2021.


Project H.O.P.E stands committed to its community. This year’s celebration began with an event at Camden’s Walter Rand Transportation Center where staff were there to hand out more than 100 drawstring backpacks filled with healthcare information and some everyday essentials.

National Health Center week wrapped up with an Oscars-themed extravaganza in honor and recognition of the efforts of the staff and providers.


The event was a fun-filled afternoon highlighting Oscars-inspired awards given to well-deserving individuals in the following categories: Exceptional Listener Award, Mission Impossible Award, People’s Choice Award and the Master Motivator Award are only a few of the categories.

Bingo & Bites: Free Health Screening Community Event

On August 20, Project H.O.P.E. hosted a health screening event, "Bingo & Bites," and welcomed all to stop by for free health screenings. 


This preventative approach to health care is so important, especially after 18 months of canceled appointments or postponing care, as it leads to a healthier, stronger community and patient base.
