HOT TAKE: it’s okay to feel joy about this. If you’re a patriot – if you love our democracy – it makes your heart sing to see the justice system functioning. It’s the immune response of the body politic kicking in to fight the cancer of fascism. As activists, you are part of this immune response. You pour so much of your heart and time and treasure into defending the American Experiment. 

Democracy is precious to you because you know it is a rare and fragile achievement, emerging in Ancient Greece, then Ancient Rome, only to die out for almost 2 milliennia. 

So when the person most responsible is finally indicted for his assassination attempt on our democracy, that is fantastic news. And why should we feel anything but joy about the possibility of justice for a brutal serial sexual assaulter / lifelong white supremacist grifter / pathological liar deadbeat who has done nothing but crime his entire life?

Massive gratitude to the impossibly brave Black women leading this charge, Judge Tanya Chutkan, Fulton County DA Fani Willis, as well as to election workers Ruby Freeman, Shaye Moss, and thousands of others who endured threats, harassment and intimidation in order to ensure a fair election. And thanks to Special Counsel Jack Smith, who looks like he wins a staring contest with Death every morning.

We're hitting campuses for a slew of in-person voter drives. Gen Z is officially the biggest generation, a majority of them are now voting age, and they care deeply about Democratic issues like abortion rights, gun safety, healthcare, climate rescue, and stopping Trump.
