For years, I have curated a weekly list of art events for friends, neighbors, and family members. Doing this is solely a passion project for me -- I like to keep a list of what I really want to see. If you miss an opening at a museum or gallery, check the calendar on my website and visit during the venue's regular operating hours. ~ Melissa Richardson Banks

CHRYSSA & NEW YORK

On View thru March 10, 2024

The Menil Collection

This exhibition presents the innovative art made by Greek-born artist Chryssa (1933–2013) while she was living in New York City from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. She is one of the first people to transform neon lighting from an advertising vehicle into a fine art medium. Renowned for her adoption of industrial process, found commercial materials, and early work with neon light, she stands at the forefront of American art in the wake of World War II. Responding to her urban environment, she was particularly interested in the intersection of art and everyday life. Details at www.menil.org.
