HELLO!
Words from your Houston SCBWI Assistant Regional Advisor

Happy Spring, everyone! I hope everyone has had a great start to this season of renewal and new beginnings.
Since it's April now, that means our ALL Y'ALL Texas-wide conference is just over a month away! Your Houston team has been working hard with the other Texas chapters to put on a stellar conference for you. There will be plenty of presentations about the craft and business of creating children's books, presented by editors, agents, an art director, authors, and illustrators. We hope to see you there, but you can join us online if you can't make it in person. Read all about it and register at the link below our conference post in this newsletter. Oh, and there's still time to get early-bird pricing, since we've extended the deadline to April 11th!
In the meantime, we'll see you online at our next monthly meeting (on the 2nd Monday instead of the 1st Monday this time) and our other events. Scroll down to see what we have coming up!
See you soon!
Lynne Kelly
Assistant Regional Advisor

After a whirlwind of a year, you're going to deserve a little getaway. Picture a cozy retreat nestled in the heart of the Navasota woods, surrounded by like-minded writers and illustrators, all eager to share their craft and stories. It's the perfect opportunity to recharge, refuel, and reconnect with your passion. Imagine waking up to the crisp morning air, grabbing your notebook or sketchpad, and heading out to to put your ideas to paper. You'll enjoy three buffet meals per day, engage in lively discussions, gain insights from fellow artists, and spark your creativity in a supportive environment.
But here's the best part – you can make this dream a reality without breaking the bank! By setting aside just $10 a week, you'll have a tidy sum ready when registration opens. Yup! For the cost of a couple of coffees, you'll secure your spot at this unforgettable pre-Christmas present to yourself.
