Evanston Building Update
Last year, HOW broke ground on a 16-unit apartment building in Evanston. With move-ins set for later this year, the project is slated to finish on time, and on budget. The new building is HOW's first suburban location and is ideal for clients, with important resources including public transit, a grocery store, neighborhood schools, and a health clinic all within walking distance. HOW will be celebrating the opening of the new building and expansion into Evanston with an event at the Halim Time and Glass Museum on April 27th. More details will be coming soon!

GET INVOLVED
Personal Hygiene Drive
It doesn't take a lot to make a big difference. HOW's annual Personal Hygiene Drive will be running the entire month of February. All donations will go directly to clients, helping them look and feel their best throughout the year. Donations will be accepted at HOW's North and South offices, or you can place an order online. Point in Time Count

The Chicago Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS) will be conducting its annual Point-In-Time Homeless Count tonight to obtain a “snapshot” of Chicago’s homeless population. This data is used to determine f ederal funding, for service and resource planning, and to raise public awareness about homelessness.  To learn more about the Point-In-Time Count and see last year's results click here .
Affordable Housing in Crisis from the Government Shutdown

With the government still shutdown, some affordable housing programs and the people they serve are at the risk of losing funding ( some have already had funds halted!). Join HOW in advocating to help keep the most vulnerable members of our community stably housed by calling your legislators to let them know affordable housing funding is a priority for the people of Chicago .
