Camper’s Corner
Three weeks of our 11-week camp season are now in the books, and our hearts are full.
Each week, children arrive at Henry's Place carrying stories that most adults would struggle to bear. We've listened to campers share about homelessness, life in foster care, the longing to be adopted, parents who are incarcerated, struggles with self-harm, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, and other deeply painful experiences. These are heavy burdens for young hearts.
Yet, amid the hurt, we are witnessing something beautiful.
We are seeing hearts begin to heal. We are hearing stories of forgiveness taking root. Many campers are hearing about the love of Jesus for the very first time and discovering that they are deeply loved, valued, and never alone.
Around campfires glowing beneath star-filled skies, friendships are being formed. Through Bible studies and worship, children are finding hope. On horseback rides, hikes, swimming trips to the Cedar City Aquatic Center, water games, and favorite camp adventures like Henry's Detectives and Bible Smugglers, campers are experiencing the simple joy of being kids. Many have also found moments of healing at Killian's Farm, where interacting with farm animals, exploring, and laughing with friends reminds them what it feels like to be a child again.
While the activities create lasting memories, the true impact happens in conversations, prayers, encouragement, and moments when a child realizes that their life matters and their future can be different.
Thank you for helping make these life-changing experiences possible. Every child who comes to Henry's Place is writing a new chapter filled with hope, healing, and purpose.
