Sheltering and comforting.

A Season of Prayer
The Serenity Prayer in Full

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change …
The courage to change the things I can …
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace …

Taking this sinful world as Jesus did:
As it is, not as I would have it …

Trusting that you will make all things right,
If I surrender to your will …

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with you forever in the ne xt.

Lazy Days of Summer

With this Memorial Day Weekend, we mark the "official" beginning of summer. We gear down to hopefully a slower pace as the heat and humidity become the norm. However, our Sunday worship continues, and we need your help. The sign-up sheets for liturgist, ushers, hospitality and flowers are relatively bare. Please take a minute to look at the sheets and see where you can help with the ministry of Highland Presbyterian this summer. We promise it will be cooler inside than outside.

Upcoming Opportunities at HPC
  • Pentecost is June 9, 2019. We will celebrate the birthday of Highland Presbyterian Church with our traditional Jambalaya lunch following worship. For this lunch we will be ordering the jambalaya and it would help to know how many to expect. Please sign-up if you plan to attend.  This will take the place of our regular Third Sunday Lunch for June.

  • The Tuesday Morning Study Class will meet Tuesday, May 28 10:30 a.m. They continue their study of the books of Luke and Acts through a DVD series taught by Dr. Darrell Bock of the Dallas Theological Seminary. Feel free to drop in.

  • Rev. Jeff Day will be our guest preacher next Sunday, June 2.

  • Specialized Officer Training, June 8. The Presbytery of South La. is offering training for Elders who are willing to be trained to serve communion and moderate a Session meeting, two things normally performed by church Pastors. If you are an ordained Elder and are interested in attending, please contact Jack Bagent or Louise Dye.
