IMPORTANT WEEKLY UPDATE
  • Ms. Amat will be hosting an informational session next Wednesday, March 8th @ 6pm to discuss the wonderful future of HPS. 
  • Support HPS and fill your belly! Potbelly's will donate 25% of sales proceeds to the HPS PTO and all you have to do is dine this Thursday March 2, from 5:00-8:00pm. Tell them you are with Hyde Park School! 
  • Classrooms are in need of tissues! Please send a box in with your child or drop one at the main office. Our resources have been depleted. 
  • Search your smartphones for pictures and video of students and staff looking Hyde Park Happy, and submit by March 10th. The volunteer who is creating the Spring Celebration video for our school will be traveling late March and needs our submissions quickly. Please save as a JPEG and date (month/year) all photos. Video can be sent to [email protected] and photos to [email protected].
CURRENT VOLUNTEER NEEDS
Teacher Conference Food Contributions 
We are collecting food donations for our wonderful teachers to have during the extended hours they'll be putting in for parent teacher conferences this week. Please signup to provide lunch and light dinner type of foods on March 2nd and March 7th.  Donations like bagels, fruit, pasta salads, granola bars, chips etc.  Please indicate what you will bring in the COMMENTS field.

The items can be dropped off in the Teachers' Lounge around 10am on 3/2 and 3/7.  If you need to drop off sooner, that is just fine! Your help is much appreciated

SPRING CELEBRATION – APRIL 20th, 2017 6-10pm

Thank you to our families who submitted sponsorships and items for silent auction thus far. This is our biggest effort of the year to bridge the gap between CPS funding and the needs of our diverse student body!

HPS Navigators Bake Sale
Wednesday, March 1st and Thursday March 2nd-The HPS Navigators scout troop is holding a bake sale after school this week. 100% of the proceeds will be used to purchase supplies for hygiene bags, which the Navigators will be making and giving out at the Walnut Hills Soup Kitchen during their Pantry Hours.  Thank you for your support!

The Flying Pig Kid's Marathon
WHO: Any HPS student ages 5-12 
WHAT: Flying Pig Kids’ Marathon / 26th Mile 
WHEN: Saturday, May 6th 
WHERE: The Banks & Riverfront, Downtown 
HOW MUCH: $15
The Kids’ Marathon is an “oinkremental” marathon that encourages fitness and health by having kids keep track of their exercise and eating on their “Hog Log.” 
The Kids’ Marathon is NOT A RACE but a program designed for children ages 5-12 years old to walk, jog, or wheelchair the distance of a marathon in small increments, at your own pace leading up to the day of the event, culminating on Saturday, May 6th when we will run the “26th mile” on the actual marathon course!

We will cover our final mile on the actual Flying Pig Marathon course and cross the real “Finish Swine.” Kids get a shirt, a marathon medal and all the goodies of the finish celebration. Register online at www.flyingpigmarathon.com

Restaurant Night- POTBELLY’s


Fill HPS’s $ POT and your BELLY...eat at POTBELLY!

Appearance Plus Cleaners 
We are excited to offer a new community rewards program from Appearance Plus Cleaners- Give a Buck, Get a Buck! Flyers to be distributed soon. For every $20.00 spent on dry cleaning they will donate a $1.00 back to HPS. When dropping off your dry cleaning just let them know you'd like to donate to HPS PTO and they'll do the rest!

SPORTS SPOTLIGHT

Hyde Park School is excited to partner with Eagles Baseball led by Mr. Jeff Wiles. Jeff presently serves as the Baseball Director for CPS and is working to get baseball back into the elementary school level. Jeff is looking for kids in grades K-1 as described in the announcement who will be paired with kids from Mercy Montessori to form a complete team.
 
Should kids in grades 2-6 be interested in playing baseball, please feel free to contact Jeff about finding a team. He cannot guarantee placement of any sort, but he does promise to exhaust all of his efforts should your child want to play on a team. His contact information is listed below. 

Eagles Baseball 
Parents,

Eagles Baseball is a baseball organization that was form locally to help connect kids to the game of baseball. Eagles Baseball participants in the Knothole Baseball League and offers opportunity for kids ages 5 – 18 years.
Eagles Baseball is currently looking to help form K1 Instructional (t-ball) and 7U Coach Pitch teams for Hyde Park Elementary and Mercy Montessori schools.

If you are interested, please contact Jeff Wiles at [email protected] and in the “Subject” field please list the age group.  Also, let Jeff know if you are interested in helping coach.  Contact must be made by March 11, 2017.



5U/6U K1 Instructional League:
  • 5U - 6U: Instructional T-Ball League. 
  • This program is geared toward first or second year baseball players and focuses on developing the basic skills needed to play baseball.  
  • The league is for players in Kindergarten and 1st grade.
  • The cost is $125 per player.
  • League games start on April 29, 2017 and goes through July 1, 2017
  • Contact Jeff Wiles by March 11, 2017!
 
7U Coach Pitch League:
  • 7U is for players that are 7 years of age.
  • The league is a coach pitch only program and is the start to playing by real baseball rules.  
  • The league is an advanced instructional league for players that can protect themselves and are ready to play at a faster pace than the 5U/6U Instructional League. 
  • This league is geared toward second or third year baseball players that want to continue to develop their baseball skills. 
  • The cost is $125 per player
  • The league starts on April 29, 2017 and goes through July 1, 2017.
