HPS School Spirit Days, Every Friday: Go Eagles!
At HPS, we love special occasions, and we love our school! So we've married the two! Every Friday is HPS School Spirit Day where students are encouraged but not required to wear the school colors (blue and white) or some item of HPS Spirit Wear. Be on the lookout for other spirit days too, like favorite team day, tie-dye day, or other themes to keep this "I love going to school in person" thing rolling. Go Eagles!
Fall Spirit Wear Begins TODAY, Runs Through September 15
Update your Fall wardrobe with HPS Spirit Wear! The sale window with our new spirit wear partner, Queen City Spirit, begins TODAY, September 5 and runs through September 15. Check out the new looks ranging from the latest tie-dye trend to classic styles! Items purchased between September 5-15 will be delivered directly to your child's homeroom the week of September 29, and a portion of all sales will be given to the HPS PTO. This is the perfect way to cheer on the sidelines at Fall sports or to add variety to HPS School Spirit Days.
HPS Restaurant Night Success! Thank you!!
Thank you for supporting the HPS Restaurant Give Back Night at Dewey's last week! We were able to raise $575 for the HPS PTO! Money raised means funds to provide extra services, supplies, and opportunities for our students! Thank you!
Breakfast & Lunch Menu Changes: HPS-Specific Menus to be Published in HPS PTO Weekly Update
Due to COVID-related inventory issues there will be some changes to the lunch menu published by the Cincinnati Public School District. For the time being, what CPS publishes is not necessarily what HPS receives to serve for breakfast and lunch. So, for now, this HPS PTO Weekly Update will publish the menus for the upcoming week based on information provided by the HPS Lunchroom Manager.

Here are the menus for the upcoming week (the entrees will be accurate, but the vegetables/sides offered could differ):

Tuesday, 9/7:
B: Chocolate chip french toast or Crunchmania fun pack
L: Pizza or PBJ box; broccoli, red peppers, side salad, applesauce and watermelon

Wednesday, 9/8:
B: Glazed breakfast bites or Nutrigrain fun pack
L: Chicken drumstick w/cornbread or turkey and cheese croissant; mashed potatoes, roasted red peppers, side salad, mixed berry cup and watermelon

Thursday, 9/9:
B: Blueberry waffle w/juice pack or Crunchmania fun pack
L: Cheeseburger w/ wild white Doritos or turkey/ham and cheese hoagie; roasted chickpeas with ranch, red peppers, side salad, apple slices and watermelon.

Friday, 9/10:

L: Grilled cheese or PBJ box; mixed vegetables, red pepper slices, side salad, peach cup and watermelon.
Parent Volunteer Needed to Assist the Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Team
The Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Team needs your help! This school year HPS is passing out paper bucket tickets that students can enter into a raffle for prizes every Friday. Students earn these tickets by showing Hyde Park School expectations such as respecting self, respecting others, and respecting property. We are trying to get as much student buy in as possible, which translates to a high need for printed bucket tickets! We need a parent volunteer to come in any day any time to print and cut bucket tickets. We will provide the volunteer with the template for tickets. More bucket tickets means more opportunities to recognize students for all the awesome things they do during the school day! Please contact Ms. Kohler if you are interested: kohlerb@cpsboe.k12.oh.us
HPS Parent Socials Begin Next Week!
HPS Socials are fundraiser parties, activities, and special events planned and hosted by parents, teachers/staff, or the PTO. And HPS Social Season is about to begin! Starting next week and extending into October, each grade level will have an Adults-Only Parent Social. After sorely missing out on these opportunities last year, attending your Grade Level Parent Social is a great way to mix, mingle, and have fun with other parents and families - all while raising money for our school! All proceeds go to the HPS PTO, which uses all funds to directly support our students and teachers.

Here is the Schedule of HPS Parent Socials; see graphics below for details (Thank you Ashley Tolokonsky for the graphics!):
Kindergarten Parent Social: September 18
1st Grade Parent Social: October 16
2nd Grade Parent Social: September 24
3rd Grade Parent Social: September 25
4th Grade Parent Social: TBD
5th Grade Parent Social: October 23
6th Grade Parent Social: October 2

For more information or to host a social, contact us at socials@hydeparkschoolpto.org. Thank you for supporting Hyde Park School! Please note: All HPS Socials will have outdoor space available. If you are unable to attend this fundraiser and would prefer to make a donation, we have also provided that option on the ticket page.

Seeking Kindergarten Lunch & Recess Volunteers
Our youngest students are in need of some assistance during lunchtime! Tasks like opening cheese sticks, yogurt lids, and even putting straws in drink boxes can be challenging to little hands! If you could spare an hour of your time, please join our lunch and recess period to help make the most of this important hour of their day. And while the added bonus of visiting your special Kindergartener is undeniable, please make sure you assist and monitor all the Kindergarteners in the cafeteria and on the playground. You can sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508084CA4AE2FA3FB6-20212022
Save the Date & Consider Volunteering: the HPS Pumpkin Chuck Returns on November 6!
The Countdown to the Pumpkin Chuck has begun! The Pumpkin Chuck is HPS's biggest school-wide event of the year! It is AWESOME! It is the definition of a FUNdraiser, and YOU can help make it happen! If you're new to HPS or haven't participated in the past, just imagine it's a crisp November day right after Halloween. You pluck your now semi-rotting but beautifully carved pumpkin from the squirrels who had been feasting on it. Close your eyes now, and imagine that same pumpkin being chucked through the air via a professionally-engineered catapult (we like to call it a trebuchet) across the HPS parking lot and splatting into pumpkin mush on said parking lot, perhaps even hitting a target on its way through the air. Wipe the tear from your eye and further imagine some music, baked goods, and other cool booths to complete the surrounding ambiance--and that is the HPS Pumpkin Chuck in a nutshell (or a pumpkin seed).
If you'd like to volunteer to help with a booth, please contact Ashley Tolokonsky at ashleymat@yahoo.com. If you're good with gadgets and want to learn how to work the catapult, please contact Matt Sample at hokiebird2@gmail.com.
