The University of Cincinnati's Saturday Program is Open to All this February and March
The School of Art at UC (within DAAP, UC's College of Art Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning) is offering a community-based art program called "Saturday Art" which will span six Saturdays in February and March. UC's DAAP programs are, year-after-year, ranked among the very best in both the world and national class, so this is an unmatched enrichment opportunity for students with a strong interest in visual arts. Click here to register by February 13. The $60 fee covers all six Saturdays of Art (From February 20 through March 27), but sibling discounts and scholarship discount opportunities are available with a support letter from your student's art teacher. Student Art will be displayed online at the DAAP website from April 3-10. Please contact Whitney Cox at coxwy@mail.uc.edu with any questions.
CPS is Hiring Substitute Teachers, Special Needs Professionals, Substitute Paraprofessionals, & Nap Aids
CPS is hiring substitute teachers, special needs professionals, substitute paraprofessionals, and nap aids to help facilitate the return to in-person school. You can scan the QR code below or use this link to register, apply, and learn additional information. CPS is hosting Virtual Walk-In Wednesday Open Interviews for these positions every Wednesday from 1-2:30 pm through February 24. The basic requirements for substitute teachers and paraprofessional substitutes are respectively listed in the blue boxes on the left and right sides of the graphic. HPS Parent Lee Sellinger (leesellinger@gmail.com) is gathering further details about these positions and is available to answer questions about the process; but please note, she does not work for CPS and is offering her help not to provide official CPS information but just because she's that good of a person!
Class Composite Pictures Are In the Works! Please Submit Your Pics by TOMORROW, February 1st.
Remember to submit your student's picture by TOMORROW, February 1, for the class composite pictures! This close-up/head-and-shoulders pic should be as high resolution as possible but need not--and is not expected to be--professional. Cell phone pics will be the norm. You can send the pic to your Room Parent or upload a picture labeled with your child's name to this google doc link using the folder of your child's homeroom teacher. This way, we can memorialize the year and all of our students who persevered. If you are unable to submit a picture but would like your child included, HPS staff will take a picture of your child at HPS when he/she returns to in-person school.

CPS Launches Possip Surveys Asking for Parent Feedback
Cincinnati Public Schools has launched a new program that will give parents a chance to submit feedback regarding their child's school on a weekly basis. It is their hope that the use of this program will further support student learning across the district. Please be on the lookout for emails referencing a Possip survey. You can follow this link and get a preview of what Possip is all about: https://possip.com/welcome-cps-families/
City Survey to Improve Traffic Safety at HPS
Please take a few minutes to complete this traffic survey to improve the safety of the intersection of Observatory and Edwards.

The Department of Transportation and Engineering (DOTE) has received several complaints about eastbound vehicles on Observatory Ave not yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalk when turning left (north) onto Edwards Rd. DOTE is considering modifying the traffic signal to include a “left turn on green arrow only” for eastbound vehicles turning left (north) on Edwards.

Adding a “left turn on green arrow only” will eliminate the conflict between pedestrians crossing Edwards in the north crosswalk and vehicles turning left on Edwards. When pedestrians have a “walk” signal for the north crosswalk, eastbound vehicles on Observatory will not be allowed to turn left on Edwards.

Adding this “left turn on green arrow only” will increase wait times for all users at the intersection. Vehicles traveling through the intersection will have a longer red light, vehicles turning north onto Edwards will have a longer wait, and pedestrians will have a longer wait for the “walk” signal. This change will also require the loss of a few parking spots on all legs of the intersection.

Please use the feedback form to let the City know if you prefer the existing traffic signal timing, or the addition of the “left turn on green arrow only.”
Future Enrollment Survey
We are collecting data for future Kindergarten enrollment at Hyde Park School. Please fill out this Google form if you are planning to send your child/children to HPS in the coming years. This includes families who already have children enrolled but will have additional siblings entering the school soon. Please help us spread the word!
Join the Hyde Park Athletics Boosters and get your very own, highly-coveted, blue foam finger! Then, there's more! With foam finger in hand, remove the foam finger from your hand every Friday and place it in a window of your house for Foam Finger Friday. Every Friday, neighborhood drive-throughs will take place noting addresses where Hyde Park Athletic Foam Fingers have been spotted. All those addresses will be eligible for a weekly prize drawing.

By becoming a Booster Club member, you are directly contributing to the support and growth of the HPS athletic programs. Hyde Park Athletics are privately funded, and your annual membership will be used to reduce the overall registration cost of these programs, fund new programs not currently available, and ensure that our student athletes have the appropriate equipment and facilities to compete effectively.

Please visit the Hyde Park Athletics website for more information or contact Mike Brugh at michaelbrugh@outlook.com with any questions.
