Teacher Conference Day Food Request
Teacher conferences are being held on Thursday, Oct. 15th. In appreciation of our teachers, the PTO will cater a lunch for the staff. We are asking volunteers to provide individually packaged light snacks and treats, helping our teachers stay energized through the late hours.

Items can be dropped off either on the table outside the main office doors or by handing items to the staff in the car line on both Wednesday, Oct. 14th and Thursday, Oct. 15th.

Basketball Registration: Now Open!
Basketball registration is now open, as of this morning! Click here to register! Grades K-1 are instructional and Grades 2-6 participate in the CPYBL. Teams fill quickly! If your child is placed on a waiting list, every effort will be made to find a team placement. COVID protocols are in effect, and everyone must follow the protocols. HPS Restaurant Night: THIS Wednesday October 14 at Chipotle!
The next HPS Restaurant Night is THIS Wednesday October 14 from 4-8pm at Chipotle located at 3725 Paxton Ave. This is a key fundraising opportunity as Chipotle generously donates 33% of all sales attributed to the Hyde Park School. So share this link on social media, and plan to eat at Chipotle a time or two on October 14 during the designated hours.

Kindergarten Coffee & Kleenex
Join us for some Coffee and Kleenex in Hyde Park Square after you drop your little ones off at school Tuesday for Group A and Thursday for Group B! You can meet other fellow Kindergarten parents who feel the same way you do! Kleenex provided, but we ask that you bring your own coffee this year.
Read-A-Thon is Coming!
This year's Read-A-Thon is right around the corner. Please look for an e-mail sent home from the main office this Friday with all the necessary information and forms. The Read-A-Thon will begin October 19th and end November 9th. Thank you for all your support for our school's second largest fundraiser. Until then, keep reading!

Amazon Prime Days are back starting on Tuesday October 13 and running through Wednesday October 14. This is your chance to perfectly time all those Prime purchases for a win-win! Simply turn on AmazonSmile (directions below) to shop at smile.amazon.com where you'll find the same amazing deals and selection, but Amazon will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to HPS PTO!

Here's how to turn on AmazonSmile and start generating donations:

Girl Scouts: FREE Robot Building Party in Ault Park THIS Wednesday October 14!
You and your girl are invited to a FREE Robot-Building Party in Ault Park this Wednesday October 14 from 5:30-6:30 pm! She’ll tap into her inventive side, and you’ll learn how Girl Scouts can supercharge her life. Girls will identify a problem and use their creativity and objects provided or from around your house (no shopping trip needed!) to build a robot that will solve that problem.

While the girls perfect their robots, Girl Scout staff and volunteers will talk with parents and caregivers about all of the opportunities available to their girls in Girl Scouts. Overview of Reopening Procedures in 1-2-2 Hybrid Plan
Here is an overview of reopening procedures and logistics for the 1-2-2 Hybrid School Plan:
  • The Hybrid Schedule begins October 12 for Grades K-2 and October 19 for Grades 3-6.
  • Mondays are Virtual for all students in all grades in the Hybrid Schedule.
  • October 13 is the first day of in-person school for Group A, Grades K-2; Group A students will be in-person every Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • October 15 is the first day of in-person school for Group B, Grades K-2; Group B students will be in-person every Thursday and Friday.
  • October 20 is the first day of in-person school for Group A, Grades 3-6; Group A students will be in-person every Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • October 22 is the first day of in-person school for Group B, Grades 3-6; Group B students will be in-person every Thursday and Friday.
  • When students come to school for in-person days, the building will open for students beginning at 7:40 am. 
  • Not listed on our original supply list in the spring, please make sure that your child has a pencil case to safely keep personal supplies in the classroom.
  • We strongly recommend each child brings a full water bottle (labeled with their name) to school each day, to eliminate the need to be in the halls filling them from our one water bottle dispenser. All other drinking fountains will be shut off.
  • Free breakfast is available to all students from 7:40 – 8:10 am with daily pick up from the kiosk outside the cafeteria and eaten in the classroom. 
  • Bus Riders: the Transportation Department sent out bus route postcards this week. Please contact them at 363-7433 with any questions.
  • There will be limited after school care at HPS and on-site all day care at the Rec Center: Contact Oakley Recreation Center at 513-321-9320.
  • Hyde Park School will continue its partnership with Children’s Home, now known as Best Point Behavioral Health. They will offer onsite counseling services. 
Bucket Ticket Winners Score Soft Serve Ice Cream from Dear!
Congratulations to this week's Bucket Ticket Winners who will be receiving a coupon for soft serve ice cream at Dear Restaurant & Butchery, Hyde Park Square's newest restaurant located at 2710 Erie Ave. The full-service restaurant will open soon, but in the meantime, you can stop in the butchery for cuts of meat, house-made charcuterie, sandwiches, soft serve ice cream, pastries, and coffee. Dear also features a monthly Wine Club curated by Sommelier Austin Heidt.

Join the Hyde Park Athletics Boosters and get your very own, highly-coveted, blue foam finger! Then, there's more! With foam finger in hand, remove the foam finger from your hand every Friday and place it in a window of your house for Foam Finger Friday. Every Friday, neighborhood drive-throughs will take place noting addresses where Hyde Park Athletic Foam Fingers have been spotted. All those addresses will be eligible for a weekly prize drawing.

By becoming a Booster Club member, you are directly contributing to the support and growth of the HPS athletic programs. Hyde Park Athletics are privately funded, and your annual membership will be used to reduce the overall registration cost of these programs, fund new programs not currently available, and ensure that our student athletes have the appropriate equipment and facilities to compete effectively.

Many people don't even realize just how easy the Box Tops for Education Program is now that it has gone virtual. No more clipping and collecting a pile of Box Tops. Just download the Box Tops App, scan your grocery receipt, instantly identify Box Tops products, and automatically add cash to our school’s earnings online. You can also email your online receipts to earn credit. Box Tops are still worth 10¢ each for your school. This may not sound like much, but it adds up to hundreds of dollars!
