We have been experiencing an ongoing problem with student drop off and pick up as it relates to families using Edwards Rd and Observatory Ave.

Dropping off and picking up students on these two roads is not only a logistical problem, it is more importantly a safety issue. Although the car line gets backed up and moves more slowly, it is the safest way to take care of your children at arrival and dismissal.

You MAY NOT drop off or pick up your students on these two roads. Please find a legal parking spot in the neighborhood if you are not using the carline. Walk your students to the crosswalk and use the crosswalk to get them to school safely.

Additionally, we have received numerous calls from neighbors and business owner about our families using their business parking lots, or blocking driveways to drop off and pick up their child. Please extend the courtesy of being a good neighbor to those who live and work near HPS.

Finally, I want to stress the importance of NOT turning left out of our parking lot, especially during drop off and pick up times. It slows our line down considerably, and creates a risk of having an accident with an oncoming car, which actually occurred a couple of weeks ago.
Thank you for keeping safety a priority at Hyde Park School.

With 21 basketball teams this season (most teams to date!), we are looking forward to supporting our Eagle athletes on the courts.

New warm-up shirts this season will keep our teams looking sharp. Home games will be at Silverton so if you are in the neighborhood on Saturdays, you can usually find a great game to watch.

Reminder for those that attend games, we do have an entry fee that helps support our Athletic Boosters. See you all on the court!

Winter Break Art Camp (December 18 – 21, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
On this guided art adventure, children are introduced to a wide range of art materials. They are encouraged to discover and create using various media like painting, pastels, sculpture, and printmaking, with plenty of artwork to take home at the end of camp. Don’t miss this week of extraordinary art-making that will get us in the holiday spirit!

We are looking for a permanent Crosswalk attendant, but in the mean time we really need some parent help to keep everyone safe crossing the street! It will only take 20 minutes of your time in the morning or afternoon.
If you have a little extra time before or after school, please sign up for a spot here
Stop Sign and sweet neon vest will be provided :)

Our youngest students are in need of some assistance during lunchtime. Tasks like opening cheese sticks, yogurt lids, and even putting straws in drink boxes can be challenging to little hands. If you could spare 30 minutes of your time, please join our lunch period to help make the most of this important time! You will need to check in at the main office at 10:00am and will then be directed to the cafeteria.
