Ongoing: Kindergarten Registration
Here Comes the Sun: Summer is Here!
Thank you parents, students, teachers, and staff for your hard work and resilience this year. Even through the most challenging circumstances, you have advanced our school's mission to develop compassionate, engaged students who are happy to be at school. You create and embody the positive, community-driven culture that distinguishes Hyde Park School.

Anthropologist Margaret Mead once explained that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture isn't its first inventions like fishhooks or clay pots or wheels, as you may think. Rather, it's a broken femur (thighbone) that has successfully healed. In the animal kingdom, a broken leg means death-- no ability to run from danger, hunt for food, or get water. An animal will die under these circumstances before the bone can heal. But, a broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken the time to stay with the wounded member of the community and keep them safe; someone has cared for the injury; someone has tended to their needs.

"Helping someone through difficulty is where civilization starts," Mead said. And so it goes, we are at our best when we help and serve others. Parents, your dedication to your children and to this great school is its lifeblood. And because of you, this community has healed; we did it together. Thank you! Have the restful and joyful summer that you have earned.
Thank You, Outgoing PTO President Ed Paff!
For the last two years, there has been a generous, supremely dedicated, and humble leader both at the forefront and behind-the-scenes of every aspect of Hyde Park School. Our outgoing PTO President Ed Paff has tirelessly and happily devoted his time and effort to the school in concrete ways. To name just a few among countless, he spearheaded fundraising efforts that, despite the pandemic, often exceeded the profits of a typical year. He maintained a line of communication with the teachers and staff about their wish lists, which in turn often enabled the PTO to provide the teachers with extra resources to purchase additional supplies or programs as they saw fit to better engage our children through virtual learning. He is leading the project to complete the life-size music garden in front of the school. He was a constant advocate at Cincinnati Public School Board meetings regarding the efforts to expand the Hyde Park School building. But even more so, he played an integral role in the intangibles, enhancing the unmatched, characteristic positive culture of HPS we all value so deeply. We couldn't rename the school after him, but we could name a picture of our school on a shirt after him. And there you have: Ed Park School. Thank you, Ed!
