Girl Scout New Troop Formation meeting
Girls and parents - join us for our New Troop Formation Meeting on Thursday, October 4th in the art room at HPS. We will be going over information on Girl Scouts and breaking out into age-level groups to work on forming new troops.

With a unique network of more than 50 million girls and women to cheer her on every step of the way, a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure. Picture this: a safe, no-limits place designed specifically for girls, where they're inspired to seek out new challenges, build important skills, and take the lead. That's Girl Scouts - a place where every girl has the space and support she needs to reach her full potential and accomplish amazing things.

If you have questions, please email sarahmelson@gswo.org
The HPS Daisies with some of the older girls... “Be a sister to every Girl Scout!”

The “original” HPS Girl Scout troop. Most of the girls started when they were little kindergarteners! The troop recently bridged up to the Junior level - green sashes. They just earned their first Junior badge in robotics through Apple!
The HPS Brownies made toys and delivered them to the kitties at OAR (O’Bryonville Animal Rescue).
Sports Spotlight
Eagle of the Week
Another HPS first is coming! Each week we will highlight a student athlete for their performance on and off the field/court. However, this recognition is about more than your athletic ability. We are looking for students who exemplify what it means to be an HPS student athlete; those kids who stand out from the crown and display leadership, sportsmanship and integrity. Any coach or parent is encouraged to nominate a student athlete. In order to nominate someone, please email Mike Brugh at hps.athletics@outlook.com. Please include the student's name, his or her grade, the team they play one and what sport, and why they are deserving of this recognition. A sentence or two via email will suffice. Please submit all nominations by Wednesday each week. No nomination will be overlooked! The winner will be announced via the PTO Blast, will be highlighted on the athletics website, and called out via social media when approved. Thank you in advance for helping to get Eagle of the Week up and running.
Soccer
The Eagles are off to a great start this season, but there are plenty of games left to play. Please consider attending one of the many games played throughout the weekend at various fields in the area. Not only is it an excellent opportunity for your kids to support their peers, but its a fun and family friendly event too. If you are looking for a particular team and would like details on the schedule, please email Mike Brugh at hps.athletics@outlook.com.
Basketball
Thanks again to those registered for the first ever HPS basketball clinic. We have 40 kids registered for what proves to be a fun and exciting night. An email with additional details will be going out early this week in preparation for the clinic on Friday, October 5th. If you have any immediate questions, please contact Jeff McPeek at hps.boosters@outlook.com.

Registration for the upcoming basketball season is still open, but not for long! Registration will close on Friday, October 5th. Don't miss out. There are programs available for Kindergartners through 6th graders. If you have questions about individual programs or the season itself, please contact Jessica Leimbach at hps.basketball@outlook.com. And remember, as is the case for all sports, scholarships are available for those who qualify!
Please click here to register via Blue Sombrero .
Volunteer Opportunities
For now, just a heads up...volunteer opportunities are coming! We are all incredibly lucky to be a part of such a great school community. HPS athletics would like to start teaching our kids the importance of giving back. We are currently working on the details for a service project in the community. Please monitor the PTO Blast, visit hydeparkschoolathletics.org and follow us on Facebook for additional details in the near future.
