PAWS & Care (Your Monthly Well-Being Tip from the Office of Employee Assistance)

Heart Health & Social Connection

Strong social connections aren’t just good for the soul, they’re good for your heart. Research by the American Heart Association shows that people with supportive relationships and regular social interaction are less likely to develop heart disease and have lower risk of stroke compared with those who are socially isolated. Social support can also help you stay active, eat healthier, manage stress, and stick with heart-healthy habits like walking or exercise.

Tip: Reach out this week to a loved one, a colleague, friend, or neighbor and schedule a short walk, coffee break, or shared lunch. Not only does this build connection, it also supports your cardiovascular health.
