Developing Workplace Policy on Artifical Intelligence
The use of AI chatbots such as, ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, is on the rise. More and more, workplaces use these chatbots to create emails and job descriptions, develop coding, calculate spreadsheets, and translate foreign languages. According to a study conducted through TalentMLS, 61% of employees said it improved their time management and 57% stated that it boosted productivity.
This may seem like an exciting time in the world of technological development, but there are also problems that may arise such as a biased “opinion” due to the uncertainty of who may own the AI chatbot and what content has been uploaded to it. There have also been warnings from innovators against the continual growth of AI technology and some have even requested a pause in further development.
Though the use of AI chatbots can prove to be beneficial, there are also legal risks that companies should consider when using them, including copyright infringement, privacy violations, and plagiarism. With these concerns in mind, some companies are strictly prohibiting the use of AI chatbots while others are forging ahead with little concern.
Keeping this in mind, companies are encouraged to develop working policy concerning the use of AI chatbots, defining what circumstances are and are not acceptable for the use of AI for work purposes.
