HRAF Offers Tutorial Webinars & Welcomes New Members
As we prepare for the decommissioning of the legacy version of eHRAF World Cultures and eHRAF Archaeology on July 31, monthly webinars will be offered to librarians and faculty who need assistance with the new version of the databases. HRAF is pleased to welcome several new members who have joined us over the past few months and we welcome inquiries from prospective members interested in setting up 60-day institution-wide trials. We are looking forward to hosting an impressive group of scholars from around the world at our HRAF Summer Institute for Cross-Cultural Anthropological Research.
Lastly, we are featuring the research of Dr. Stephen Asatsa of The Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a HRAF Global Scholar for 2023.
ln anticipation of the eHRAF legacy applications being discontinued on July 31, 2023, HRAF is offering a series of monthly webinars. These webinars are designed specifically for librarians and faculty who need assistance in preparing for the application switchover. Each webinar will take place via Zoom and will last approximately one hour, with training followed by time for questions and answers.

This month we are pleased to feature HRAF Global Scholar Dr. Stephen Asatsa. Asatsa is a Kenyan early career scholar and counseling psychologist. Currently he is the Head of the Department of Psychology at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).

Dr. Asatsa leads a number of international research projects ranging from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent emotional regulation, to the impact of COVID-19 experiences on addiction severity and Luhya traditional mourning rituals in Kenya. His current research was selected for funding by the Templeton Foundation through the Cultural Evolution Society and Durham University.
He is passionate about the promotion of indigenous psychology and the decolonization of psychology in Africa.

HRAF is honored to welcome Dr. Stephen Asatsa as a HRAF Global Scholar for 2023.

The three-week NSF grant-funded HRAF Summer Institute for Cross-Cultural Anthropological Research will take place in New Haven, Connecticut from July 17 through August 4. The Summer Institute will train 12 faculty, researchers, and advanced graduate students in the theory and state-of-the art methods for conducting regional and worldwide comparative research. The academic institutions represented include:
