Gov. Northam and Transportation Secretary Valentine to break ground on Thursday, Oct. 29
HAMPTON, VA - Governor Ralph Northam and Secretary of Transportation Shannon Valentine will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Project at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020, in Hampton.

This transformative transportation project, expected to be completed by November 2025, will widen the current four-lane segments of the 1-64 HRBT corridor in Norfolk and Hampton, and bore new twin tunnels. The expansion will increase capacity, ease major congestion, and enhance travel time reliability.
In addition to remarks from the Governor and the Secretary, the event premiers a concept video which takes viewers on a visual tour of the I-64 widening project between Hampton and Norfolk, including new twin tunnels.
