Hancock Resource Center was recognized at the Hancock Business & Industry Awards Gala on Thursday, August 8th, 2019. “The Foundation is honored to recognize the Hancock Resource Center with the Community Award of Excellence,” said Angie Kothmann, Hancock County Community Development Foundation Board President. “They began under the Foundation’s umbrella and have absolutely flourished through their works and their growth.”
Established in 2006 through the Governor’s Commission on Recovery, the Hancock Resource Center began operating independently of the Chamber of Commerce in 2008. They hired their first employees that year, and now have a team of 20 who serve about 1,200 families per year through ten programs. Their programs set many on the road to self-sufficiency, including veterans, youth and domestic abuse survivors.
“Receiving this award is really special,” said Rhodes. “We’ve been a part of the community since Katrina and have grown along with the community as we’ve recovered. Being recognized for our work is a big honor for our team and means so much coming from the organization that got us started.”
